I've worked at Twistee Treat since last year, but unfortunately had to quit because I was moving. Working there was an absolute pleasure and was a welcoming environment for a first job.
First, I'd like to thank the best manager I've ever had the pleasure of working with, Sara. Sara was, and always has been, extremely kind, patient and understanding with all staff members and customers. If possible, I would gladly return to work with Sara any day of the week, and any time of the year. Sara makes sure you work with her, not under her, as many other managers tend to do. Not to mention, Sara was always understanding with my rare scheduling issues, and she worked with me to create the best plan possible for me to work comfortably. Thank you so much, Sara.
Secondly, I'd like to thank my assistant general manager, Ari. Ari was extremely welcoming to me, and I'm proud to say that I consider Ari as one of the best friends I've ever made in such a short span of time. Ari is extremely considerate, thoughtful. and takes time to really understand and appreciate the moment. I'll never forget listening to Lip Gloss by Lil Mama with her to get in the best mood for our shift. She's definitely a ray of sunshine and is always suggesting new ideas to help boost staff morale and team bonding.
Last but not least, I want to mention our other AGM, Eva. I met Eva through mutual friends at school briefly, and then we met officially at work. Since the beginning, Eva has always been so so so incredible. She helped me learn how to work efficiently and confidently, and most importantly, she showed me so much compassion. Eva also helped me get home a few times which was so amazing because I never thought that I would be close enough to a friend, let alone a coworker, to ask them such a big favor.
This job mainly employs teenagers, and it's no surprise that we would have a few outbreaks of rumors and circulating drama, which honestly happens at any job. Sara, along with many other staff members, were quick to hand out verbal warnings and private messages regarding those who spread rumors and promoted gossip.
There were only a few times where I left later than I was supposed to. And it was mainly because I had either offered to stay behind to help out, or because others failed to do their tasks correctly. Whenever I asked for help from Sara or any of the AGM's, I always received it as soon as they were able to help. As manager or AGM, there are many other tasks that you have to keep up with besides making and taking orders. For example, there were a few times were I, along with others, weren't able to receive help immediately because management had to send and respond to important corporate emails, or order more inventory.
There was no favoritism between management and staff members, but hours were earned, not given. If you proved that you wanted to work and improve your skills, you were given more hours. If you failed to complete tasks or showed little to no improvement, you were given less hours. That's the whole of it. There were also quite a few people who were on a watch list and were regarded more carefully. These people weren't good workers, and they often neglected their tasks as they made their way to the back to hangout and eat before being corrected by the manager or one of the agm's. These people also had very poor morals and often received complaints to management from coworkers or customers.
I'll never forget anyone that I've worked with and I appreciate all of the valuable life experience that I picked up along the way. I'd also like to thank any and all other staff members that are currently working there or are no longer working with us, because of you all, I had an amazing year and some months full of a lifetime...
Read moreStaff needs training in customer service. We ordered 3 other ice creams and a brownie sundee with fudge. When we went to pick up our order they told us they were out. No big deal... I asked for something else... they didn't have that either. They offered cookie dough instead and i explained i didnt like it. I tried this 3 more times and they didn't have any of the items. I asked for a refund and again they tried to push me to get the cookie dough. I then asked for a banana split. They agreed and we went to sit down... a few minutes later they called me back to the window stating they have to charge me the difference. My sunde was $4.29 and the banana split was $5.99... mind you they charged me $.99 for the fudge and $.99 for the brownies... so $6.29 total. So I said I should get a refund. After a back and forth I asked for the manager. When he came to the window he said "what's your problem?"... I explained the situation and he stated that because he has to inventory the banana he has to refund me then charge me again. So I was like forget it... I will just take the refund. After some silence with attitude he said the refund was done. I asked for his name and the cashiers name and he didnt give it to me.. I asked for a receipt of the refund and I had to wait so they took other people's orders... fine I stood to the side. 3 customers later they asked for a brownie sunde and the cashier explains everything it comes with and I told the manager "your going to take that customers money then make her go through the same thing as me?" He tells me "no we will let her know." Then he goes and tells the customer. I asked for the number to corporate and he said " we don't have it, you can Google it." I got my receipt and i left... all of that over $.29 that they would have owed...
Read moreDrive thru was an hour long ! I was only the third car in line. If you want faster service, order your order through the front window. As I waited an hour to order, all the customers who just pulled up into the parking lot and ordered at the front window, got all their orders before the drive through customers 🙄. A good 8 customers, talk about having a “drive thru window frame.” After waiting an hour to get to the screen to order, the girl asked me to pull up to the drive thru window 🤦🏻♀️ to order my order “quicker” because she can’t hear clearly through the speakers. Quicker ? Damn near waited a whole hour before placing an order to then waiting another 30 to place an order at the drive thru window 😴. The two cars that were in front of me still hasn’t even moved 👀, and is still waiting to order and get their order at the drive thru window. Talk about having a better system! I ended up finally ordering a small strawberry sundae and it wasn’t bad nor good. It was a strawberry sundae, no complaints there. Enjoyed it. Service was terrible though, and staff needs to be retrained or rehired. Nothing against having young teens working, but if your hired do your job. Work for your money and stay on your hussle 😑. Been to better ice cream spots that had me in and out. After getting my ice cream a half an hour later, I looked back around to exit the parking lot and what do I see? Another 8 cars lined up, but this time around a staff member decides to take orders on an iPad. Service...
