If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Dining out should never feel like a test of patience, taste buds, and tolerance for disappointment, but this restaurant somehow managed to fail in every category. I don’t usually take time to write reviews, but this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years, and people deserve a fair warning before wasting their time and money.
Let’s start with the food. I ordered a steak dish, expecting at least a basic level of flavor and proper execution. What I received was a piece of meat so bland it could’ve passed as a boiled hospital meal. No seasoning, no sear, no effort. It was as if they forgot that steak should be, at the very least, salted. There was absolutely no love put into the preparation—it tasted like something that had been defrosted and thrown on a grill without thought.
Thinking it might be a one-off, we also tried their pasta and pizza dishes. Big mistake. The pasta wasn’t just undercooked—it was raw. Chewy, chalky, stiff noodles drenched in an equally uninspired sauce that somehow managed to taste like nothing. It felt like eating cardboard soaked in lukewarm water. As for the pizza, it was no better. The dough was so underdone the center was almost still batter. Soggy and doughy with toppings sliding off like they knew better than to be there. I genuinely can’t understand how this made it out of the kitchen.
Now let’s talk about the drinks. I don’t know if they were growing the mint for my mojito out back or harvesting the agave for the tequila, but the drinks took forever to arrive. And when they finally did, they were, shockingly, also terrible. Weak, watered down, and completely lacking in flavor. I’ve had better cocktails at fast food chains.
As for the service, I wish I could say it was the saving grace, but sadly, it wasn’t even close. We waited well over 20 minutes just to place our order despite the restaurant not being full. The staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, with servers aimlessly walking around and avoiding eye contact. At one point, we tried using the restaurant’s chat ticket system just to get someone to check in on our table. It took another 30 minutes to get a response. No apology, no explanation—just more waiting.
All of this would be frustrating enough on its own, but when you’re paying premium prices, it’s unacceptable. This place sells itself like an upscale dining experience, but the food, drinks, and service belong in a poorly-run fast food joint.
In short, save yourself the headache. There are far better places nearby that actually care about food quality, timeliness, and customer experience. I left this restaurant hungry, irritated, and completely baffled as to how it’s still in business....
Read moreMy wife and I went for Mother's Day dinner and our experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival there were, by my count, as least a dozen open tables. Despite this, we were seated about 15-20 minutes after our reservation time. This wasn't a huge deal as it allowed us to grab a drink at the bar, which turned out to the be sole highlight of the experience. Bar tender was very quick, her recommendations were spot on and the cocktails were delicious. We then got seated upstairs, which was intimate but created some issues pretty immediately. Our server had tables downstairs and upstairs and, as a result, time between table touches were pretty spread out. Our cocktails arrived watered down and more than 20 minutes after we ordered them. Both tasted completely different than what we were served at the bar. The starters we wanted to order were 86'ed so we moved to back up options. The brussel sprouts came cold and soggy. The Ahi crudo did not taste particularly fresh, was pretty fatty and the presentation was very haphazard. We then decided to split the Double Cab Burger and the Spicy Sausage Pizza. The burger came with the cheese not melted (literally a cold slice of cheese on the burger) and it didn't have the sauce or caramelized onions on it that the menu described. My wife asked for ketchup, which never arrived, despite her waiting about 10 minutes before starting to eat. Our pizza didn't show up until about 15 minutes after we finished the burger. The pizza flavor was good, but the center of the pizza was not cooked all the way through and was still doughy. Our server did take the pizza off the bill without us asking as she could tell how long we had to wait for it (about 75 minutes after we placed the order). We had wanted to order dessert, but everything took so long that we nixed it and went home. The whole dinner took just under 2 hours for 2 of us to eat and the restaurant was half empty. It appeared that several other tables were having similar experiences. We hope this was an isolated experience as we have enjoyed other locations in the past, but I think it will be a long time before we give this one...
Read moreAbsolutely AMAZING experience at Sixty Vines.
I live in Austin and was visiting my parents. I know they just opened one up near me and had heard good things. I didn’t realize this one had only been open for two weeks. Usually, I wait a month once a place has opened for them to work out the kinks. You would have thought this location has been open for YEARS with how well-run it was.
First off, my parents live nearby and had received a coupon for a free starter. The hostess actually remembered my dad! She was attentive and friendly. We sat outside and were served by Daniel who was one of the most passionate servers I’ve had anywhere. His recommendations and enthusiasm for the cuisine were infectious!
Props to Sixty Vines for having N/A wines that actually taste great! I had the N/A rose which was wonderful.
Food: Tri-Tip: 4/5 - A bit cold once we got it and a bit salty for my personal taste but my mom ended up ordering a side of bread to mop up the chimichurri sauce 😂 Beet and Goat Cheese Salad: 3/5 - honestly could improve this one. Didn’t really have a dressing, and the beets were quite plain. Pork Pappardelle - 10/5 - WOWW. So so good. Super flavorful but light sauce, tons of tender pork, amazing fresh pasta - honestly one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a while. Olive Oil Cake - 5/5 - Light, delicious, not too sweet with wonderful citrus flavor.
Service - 15/5 - the manager, Tony, lives in the same building as my parents and he chatted with us for a while. Some of the best service I’ve ever received at a restaurant ever.
I ate a lot of places in Las Olas during my few days there and I’m so glad we ended up at Sixty Vines for my last meal. Definitely the culinary highlight...
