These places are so disrespectful to customers.
Wife came here with her cousin and friend two months ago. Checked out and they wife and her cuz asked for their ID and credit card. Waiter “I already gave it to you guys.” Waiter got rude. Wife went to bartender “if waiter said she gave it to you the. She did.” All disrespectful. Their friend was driving, didn’t drink and told me the story. And I was questioning my wife “were u guys drunk and being rude?” Their friend said no they weren’t.
TODAY, I went to Rock Bar with my sister who was visiting. I asked about the happy hour. And ordered the jumbo drinks (but one get one). Then I ask if appetizers were half, waiters said “yes all of it are”. So I ordered.
Bill came. Waiter says “look it over and make sure it’s right.” I have a habit of NEVER reading bills but I screwed up few times and I thought let me look at it to make sure.
None of the appetizers were half off. I asked the waiter, he said “oh you can’t combine the appetizer with the drink, you have to read the fine print.” I said “but I asked you if they’re half off after ordering the drinks and you said yes.” He said “it’s on the fine print.” So I said whatever, and said okay, no problem!!
I went to the restroom and then told the bartender about it. Exactly what happen. Bartender said “that’s wrong for the waiter to do, you should talk to the manager.” He pointed to a talk heavy set guy and said it’s the manager.
I told the manager, “I understand the place makes money regardless but why would the waiter say one thing, and then another?” I gave the rundown, exactly as is. His response “well now I’m telling you that you can’t combine..”. I said but the waiter didn’t telll me that when I asked. He said “well now you know because I’m telling you.”
I cannot make this up. I asked “that’s your answer as a manager?” He said “that’s right !” And I said “alright” and walked away,
I paid the bill. It wasn’t about the bill at all….. it’s just so weird and I read comments about the ID situation and about rude workers there.
It’s crazy when some people know they’re making money regardless, and not give two crap about people, to be so disrespectful and disgusting. Dang!!!
It’s crazy because I wasn’t tipsy. Not belligerent. Same thing my wife kept saying to me and I keep asking “u sure you wasn’t being rude because you were drinking.” And her friend kept saying “no, they were not being rude at all.”

I also am apart of the service industry as I have worked in Memphis Tn and Ft Lauderdale as a server/bartender/trainer for 23 years and understand the challenges that the industry faces everyday. I am also empathetic to new server hires and expect mistakes. However, I experienced so many different mistakes that it's hard to tell where I should start and who is at fault. But in any compan, it starts at the top. I was told that it is an issue with the kitchen. I can also understand that, however that wasn't all, there was no attentiveness at all to ensure issues were corrected and to our liking or if we needed anything else. I live here and bring many of my out of town guests to the Rock Bar because of past experiences that I've had that were excellent. I felt that we were just disregarded. Sophie, our server was super nice, however it seems she wasn't able to handle her tables. Training focused on how to multitasking is needed. Food runners run food but the server has to check in at least within the first 3 minutes of food arriving. That didn't happen. After I had to get our cutlery, napkins and salt, I was take n back but when our food came out once again super, I asked for the manager (Alex) and explained our issue, he said he understood and would take off 3 of our items but that wasn't done correctly and our 2-4-1 drinks were charges at full picd and rice I did not eat remained on the receipt. It was corrected for the 4th time. I am not writing this review to hurt business however there are many opportunities that need to be addressed. Our city thrives on the dollars of our tourists and many who live her, want to recommend and take our guests to a restaurant that will serve and place service at the top, not excuse. Read moreCame to Rock Bar for lunch, drinks, and hookahs on a Thursday. Place was not that packed but hostess/staff whoever never seated us we literally just sat ourselves. 10...20mins still no waiter. Asked a waitress passing if someone was going to serve us she just said yea and kept walking. Finally the waiter appears he's very rude for no reason (we never even complained about how long it took him). We were in such good spirits that we all kind of ignored the fact of how rude he was but all 3 of my friends silently noticed it. He carded us for drinks when we saw no one else get carded the entire time we were there. Ok no biggie he tried to laugh it off and say we looked young (mind you ALL of us are 40 or older) we don't look it but we definitely don't look underage either. Asked him for a hookah he came back with the price list and said "I'll let you think about if you want it or not" after we had already said we did for sure. Maybe he thought the price would run us off. He messed up our drink order then tried to argue as to what we said when he clearly was wrong. Food was subpar. Calamari was bland, bang bang shrimp were just friend shrimp just ok, and chicken wings were ok. Bathroom was absolutely disgusting. It was too early in the day for it to be smelling and looking that way. Toilet had no seat cover and from looking at the other reviews it's been that was for over a month. That's unacceptable and gross. Looks like a gas station outside bathroom. For them to automatically add an 18% gratuity on the bill is absurd with how $hitty the service was. I like to tip based on how well they actually did. Server disappeared and never checked on us. And clearly they don't care about service because they still get a hefty tip no matter what. I recommend staff customer service training and hiring someone to clean the bathroom regularly. View is awesome and drinks are strong...
