After reading many positive reviews, I decided to trust public opinion. Perhaps my visit happened to be on a not-so-good shift, because I didn't even come close to having the positive experience that the people who wrote reviews before me had. It was an ordinary breakfast, on a weekday, so there weren't many visitors, and I was quickly shown to my table. As I sat down, I felt like a fly, stuck to the sticky table. I thought I should maybe tell the waiter, maybe he could offer me another table, but touching the neighboring table, I got the same sticky effect. I ordered coffee and eggs Benedict. The coffee was brought quickly, despite the fact that it was a simple black coffee, neither milk nor cream was offered. Napkins, apparently, were also not included in the price of the coffee, because there were none. Maybe I just need to ask about such little things separately. After 15 minutes, my order was brought... and it looked lovely, unfortunately, I can't say the same about the taste. In general, the eggs were cooked with a lot of vinegar, which clearly affected their taste, and they simply became sour. The Hollandaise sause was probably made from a pre mix that can be found in local supermarkets. Tasteless and non tasty. At that time, a gentleman having breakfast at the next table finished his breakfast, paid the bill, and hurried to the exit. The waiter serving his table swept away the crumbs with his hand and went to the kitchen. The mystery of the sticky tables was solved - they simply weren't cleaned properly. Without finishing the offered dish, having paid the bill, I also decided not to linger. Oh yes, the tip... Here, gratitude starts from 20%, which is quite unjustified for such mediocre service. Overall, my visit was disappointing. I hope you have better luck if you do decide to visit...
Read moreIt was around 10AM when I sat down at the village Cafe for a breakfast and get some inspiration about my new marketing campaign. The waiter took my order and brought my coffee. For the following ten minutes I wrote my ideas down onto my book while waiting for my breakfast. upon arrival of my food I called a friend David DeBeer whom lives next door. He said town with me and watched me eat my breakfast meanwhile we were talking. After the waiter cleaned the table David asked for a cold soft drink during his request the manager whom arrogantly said we needed to leave that we were not allowed to be there. In shock and not know what had happened I started to request information when I was refused and again demanded to leave the property, after while my friend David Debeer left and I continued and requested my bill, the waiter said the manager was handling it. about 20 minutes later the police arrived and said I needed to leave the property, I asked for explanation and they said thats the hotel policy they choose not have me there. I requested to have my bill or a copy of it for my records, the officer went and requested but was told they comped my meal and requested for me to leave and look for a civil attorney. Since I have not done anything to the restaurant nor staff but to choose to spend my money there, and with a hospitality background. The way the whole situation was handled is not acceptable and very unprofessional since the accusation is totally invalid. The sausage was dryer and eggs running when I asked...
Read moreI have been visiting this great brunch spot every other weekend for the past 13 months. I come to this location all the way from Delray Beach, and drive the 1 hour even with traffic on some mornings because I love their gluten free French toast! Unfortunately with popularity and business growth, sometimes comes depreciating and near unethical business management conduct & low morale. I never thought that I would walk into this restaurant and be told by the manager that I have to make a reservation, or be shown the long list of order slips hanging in front of the chef preparation line, and be told that my order will be very last of all those and I "will be waiting more than 30 minutes." Waiting for food is not an obstacle for me, but dealing with a bad attitude is. After looking outside and seeing 1 available table to the far left, that ls located infront of the restaurant patio, I was informed abruptly "we don't serve customer's at that table." I would not recommend coming to this place as a first choice, what I would recommend is choosing a place that prides themselves on organization, combined with strong customer service skills, which seems to be lacking in this environment. If you like to be treated like a disposable customer, unappreciated, and un-cared for, as a second-class citizen, then definitely come to the Village Cafe In Fort Lauderdale, for your...
