I feel like we just had a personalized Venezuelan food tasting experience! We were greeted with a sweet welcome and openness about the types of food. Upon hearing we’d like to dine in the “manager” (maybe owner, I think…I wish I’d gotten his name) showed us the menu then began to recommend all kinds of foods. It all sounded so delicious.
My hubby ordered the LA 67 (double hamburger). It had two kinds of cheese (Gouda is what sold him), cabbage strings, tiny shreds of fried potatoes and other yummy goodness! They even handmade the buns!!! Hubby rated his sandwich a 5. The manager was very funny when he brought it he told hubby he could squish it hard to make it fit in his mouth. He even jokingly (half serious) offered to go get gloves and do it for him!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I ordered a patacon and opted for the hot melted plate of gooey goodness! What sold me on this was the yummy and sweetly cooked plantain on the inside. It’s an amazing combination of sweet, salty, and cheesy tastes that anyone moan as they eat. It was super delicious. I’d give it a 5.
We also had an appetizer—the mandoca. This was a unique experience as it came with a sour cream type of sauce we were to dip the hot mandoca and then dip it into the shredded cheese. The sweetness of the bread, mixed with the cream and then cheese was nothing like I’d ever tried. It was mouthwatering!
The dining room has a cafe type feel and is small with about 9-10 tables. Small and intimate. Bright lighting. We were early for dinner, and the only people in the restaurant when we entered, so we received undivided attention at first. Then people started to come in and we were still checked on frequently.
Overall, I’d highly recommend this as a place to go and try something new. It’s quaint, yummy,...
Read moreMy wife and I were visiting Florida and wanted to try something new, so we decided to give this Venezuelan restaurant a shot based on the good reviews.
We were warmly greeted upon arrival, but the place was completely empty. Despite that, we decided to order. Unfortunately, several items on the menu were unavailable. We ordered two Pollo Gratinado plates (with rice, tostones, and salad), a coffee, and a tres leches cake. We were told it would be a 20-minute wait, but it ended up taking 43 minutes.
We had also picked up food from a nearby Filipino restaurant and we were staying 6 minutes away, and even though we grabbed that one earlier, it was still warm, unlike our food from here, which was cold when we got back to the hotel.
The chicken itself was flavorful and juicy, but the rice was dry and hard, the plantains were just okay (could use a sauce or seasoning), and the salad was bland. The coffee had a burnt taste. The saving grace of the meal was the tres leches cake (otherwise I would’ve rated 2 star), it was moist, perfectly balanced sweetness and very delicious, helped salvage the experience somewhat.
We were excited to try Venezuelan food for the first time, so this was a bit of a letdown. Maybe it was just an off day, and I’m sure there are better dishes on the menu, but based on this visit alone, it was a...
Read moreWe were looking for a Mexican restaurant and this popped up with a perfect 5 stars. We had to try that. What a wonderful experience. We had never had Venezuelan cuisine before and wanted to experience it. The menu is all in Spanish and online. The owners family explain every choice to you. First class service. They very pleasant. There are lots of choices for gluten free dinning. The tastes were delightful. Their cooking involves fried food and cheese options. If that's not your desire it may be challenging. Each dish has multiple options. You'll love it. We were not able to fit it in desert. They look fantastic. It appears they are not on the menu you pick from the display. The shop is small and the decor cozy and eclectic as you can see. The music was fun and upbeat. They play music videos. Our prices are high because we bought three entrées and multiple drinks. Their prices were moderate. The most difficult part was finding it. Use GPS to get to the strip mall, then read the address numbers to find it. As others have said a...
