My husband and I visited New York Pizza & Pasta way back on our honeymoon in April 2009. Why am I reviewing it now? Because I'm a well-respected reviewer in my local area (Ohio) and New York Pizza & Pasta deserves a mention for being the worst customer service and/or restaurant experience I've ever had, and I remember every detail as if it were yesterday.
My husband and I have some dietary restrictions, and stopped here because their pasta looked good. The first thing I noticed was that there were multiple anti-customer magnets stuck to the cash register ("The Customer is Always Wrong" was one of them). There were two men working; the so-called "man" who served us was in his 30s to 40s, Italian, and was talking to the cook about a different customer (negatively). I should've left given all the red flags, but we were so hungry and very few places could cater to our restrictions, so I stayed. After the customer ahead of us left with a take-out order, we ordered two baked pastas with no cheese. I paid cash and noticed a sign saying "No Refunds".
Our food was cooked relatively quickly, and two more customers were standing in line by the time it came out. The Italian man brought out two baked pastas covered in cheese, set them down, and started walking away without a word. I said, "I'm so sorry, but I ordered these without cheese." He glanced back while still walking and said, "Too late!" Shocked, I repeated, "But we ORDERED them without cheese." He shrugged dramatically once behind the counter and shouted, "Too late!"
We couldn't eat the meals we paid for, so we left everything on the table and left. My husband mentioned how we should have thrown the food on the walls for our horrendous experience, and in hindsight, I totally agree. Our honeymoon ended on a supremely sour note. We lived near poverty at the time and were really upset to have ordered food that was delivered wrong due to the employee's error, and still couldn't get it made right or a refund. New York Pizza & Pasta was the absolute worst customer service experience I've ever had, and I tell a lot of people I know about this experience because it was so pivotal to me. I would not give a dime to this business even if I'd spat on it, and if there is any hope in this world, that employee better have since found humanity or justice for the way he...
Read moreI was in Gatlinburg for the Smoky Mountain Music Festival. I went to this place. There were 2 people ahead of me in line. I ordered a calzone to go and sat down to wait. Several large groups were behind me in line. I was #194. After we all ordered i noticed that the cashier called 4 or 5 numbers out that had ordered after me. After waiting for 25 minutes i asked if my food was almost ready. He said yes. Another 15 minutes passed. They are still calling out numbers of people who ordered after me. I was running short on time at this point so i politely asked for my money back. He said "its almost done." I asked for my money back again and waited at the counter. He ignored me. After waiting another 5 minutes i said, " sir i really need to go and would like a refund." A guy that was cooking who seemed to be russian said, "we dont give refunds, your food is ready." At this point i said no thank you. I have watched you all serve many people that came after me. I dont mind waiting but this is just bad customer service. I asked for a refund and you ignored me. May i see the owner?" The guy who appeared to be russian said he was the owner and they didnt do anything wrong and cut me off, walked away, continued to call out other orders completly ignoring my presence. I had to take the food. I visit Gatlinburg often but will never...
Read moreHorrible customer service. After a 12 hour drive to Gatlinburg, we decided to grab a slice of pizza as our first meal here. As my husband waited at the counter I grabbed a table. After about 5-6 minutes waiting the Male owner came out to serve a pizza to another group of people. He stopped near my husband and said very rudely “I am not making any more pizzas, NO PIZZA!” As If he were done for the night or just didn’t want to serve. My husband replied calmly and said “that’s fine , I’ll just take a beer than.” The man huffed and replied “we don’t serve draft beer.” My husband said “a bottle is fine”. The man seemed irritated but went to the back and said something in Russian. A woman came out to the registered and rand my husband up for a beer with no issue. He sat down with me to enjoy his drink. A few minutes pass by and another couple came up to the counter and ordered 2 slices of pizza. The woman took his money and put in his order. I immediately felt offended and went to the counter asking why she would sale them pizza but wouldn’t sale us pizza. She immediately started to defend the man who refused to sale is pizza. Not once did anyone apologize. I found this very rude and very directed. I will never even try this place again or...
