Scam of a PA Dutch Pot Pie. Never order this. $18 dollars for literal egg noodles, thinly portioned over a plate to make it seem like you get more than you really do. Looking at the menu and it says there’s potatoes in it, there isn’t. I ordered mashed potatoes to go with it but there’s none in the pot pie. There’s also barely any chicken. Egg noodles are some of the cheapest things to make. This shouldn’t cost most than 10 dollars, especially with the lackluster amount of chicken, and how little food you actually get. I’m extremely petite and very rarely finish a meal. I finished my salad, my potatoes, and the noodles and was still hungry. I wouldn’t claim this is made as a traditional PA Dutch pot pie.

Also, the sodas were all horrible from the taps. Either way too much or too little carbonation, and way too syrupy. Probably hadn’t been changed out in a long time. The waitress was at first alright with getting new drinks but she definitely got annoyed with us after the second batch still wasn’t good. The drinks were visibly messed up, the syrup making the drinks an odd color and you could easily smell the awful taste. It’s hard to mess up a simple Coke.

I will say someone in my party ordered the French dip sandwich and really liked it. Just really beware what you order from here and watch the prices. Just because it’s more expensive doesn’t mean it’ll be any good. Stick with the sandwiches/burgers.

I’ll attach a photo of my noodles. I ate this in probably only like 8 bites. The little amounts of chicken you can see is all there is. It’s...

My husband and I came here on an overnight trip away from home and decided last minute to do a ghost walk. While we were waiting on our walk to start we stopped at the attached beer garden for a drink and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Brooke was our bartender and extremely attentive and friendly. The next day, we stopped for a snack and a drink before exploring Gettysburg. Leland was bartending then and was also really friendly. Having liked this place so much, we decided to stop for dinner back here before going home and had yet another bartender, David, who was even more attentive and friendly than you would expect. He made us feel like we were regulars and not just tourists. The food, no matter what you get is excellent. We had pretzel bites for the first 2 stops and then for dinner I got fish and chips and my husband got the macaroni and BBQ burger. Best fish and chips I have ever had and my husband loved his burger! Highly recommend and we will definitely be returning. Kudos to the three bartenders we met - Brooke. Leland, and David - for exemplary service and friendliness

Update 5/2/2021 Back again this weekend for a getaway. Came back to SweneysTavern and yet again, the service was fantastic!! Today especially- the Mandy's were working and were so sweet and attentive even when it was crazy busy! We couldn't have asked for better service! They are all so friendly here! We will definitely return again soon. Best place in Gettysburg that we have tried for great food and even...

We stopped into Sweeney Tavern at approximately 4:00. (There was one other party in the tavern) We were seated by the bartender and provided menus. A couple walked in ~10 minutes after us (we still have not been approached by anyone to offer drinks etc). A server greets the table that walked in after us, gets them drinks… Approximately another 10/15 minutes go by, then the hostess came to our table with menus for 2 people (she did not notice that 3 of us were there). She apologized for only having 2 menus, we said no problem, we already have menus. She asked how we got them and we said they were provided when we were seated. She said ok, and went to the bartender and asked him if he sat us and why didn’t he tell her (yes, we CAN hear all of this). We sat for another 20 minutes and no one came by, we decided to leave. As we were walking out, the employees were standing at the bar talking, no one said anything to us. When we left the only customers in the tavern were the 2 that walked in after us. I am SO irritated. I could understand waiting if they were busy, but they definitely were not. When the hostess realized we were there, we should have at least been offered water and told someone would be right with us. Service, absolutely NONE. Do not go here if you actually want a drink or food. You will...

This place is so cute and has a great vibe. It's a perfect lunch spot or to grab a quick beer while touring Gettysburg. The food was absolutely wonderful I highly recommend the meatloaf and French Onion soup. Lots of specialitie drinks I got the Lincoln ghost and it was so yummy. Service is fast and everyone was super friendly. It's like a historical pub almost feeling like another time but all the convenience of today. There's inside seating and there is also outside seating to people watch or enjoy the weather and sip on a beer or glass of wine. We went on a Saturday early evening and it was just starting to pick up when we got there so we lucked out getting a great tabe with a view of the little pond. Just a nice gem in a sea of choices in Gettysburg.
