We had a delightful stay at The Olinger House B&B. Our two night stay was not nearly long enough to enjoy the wonderful hospitality of the staff and explore the fascinating treasures around every corner of the home.
The Olinger House is a charming Bed & Breakfast in historic Gettysburg. The home is beautifully decorated and has many historic and period details in both the common areas and guest rooms. My favorite common area was the cozy sun room just off the dining room. If I wasn’t in our room, you would find me here, with a cup of coffee and book in hand. The attentive hosts, Brad and Charlie, are quick to show you the many curios, the art and the architectural details that make this home so fascinating. Brad has extensive knowledge and familiarity with Gettysburg and was willing to provide suggestions to start us on our day of site seeing. Plus, he was able to make fantastic dinner recommendations.
Breakfast was delicious. Being from Seattle , I’m a coffee snob and I can say that the coffee was fantastic. I believe Brad mentioned the beans are locally sourced (roasted). Add to that juice, pastries (including Brad’s home made sweet breads), fruit and other breakfast options, and we were set. We also had an extra special breakfast on Sunday, but I don’t know if that is the norm or if it was because we were at the B&B over Easter Sunday.
The location could not be better situated as it’s less than a five minute walk to downtown where you can find numerous restaurants and shops. It’s also close to the Gettysburg Battlefields and the Gettysburg National Soldier Cemetery (four score and seven years ago…)
We spent two nights in the Olinger Suite. The room has an ensuite bathroom (I believe all the guest rooms are similarly situated) and has comfy linens, great pillows and plush towels. Plus there were little extras in the room (phone charger, WiFi, arrival goodies). The room was clean, as was the entire B&B.
As stated earlier, our stay at the Olinger House was absolutely delightful and we...
Read moreWe stopped at the Olinger House Bed and Breakfast on our way through for a 1-night stay. Right off the bat, we were impressed with the ease of check-in and had no trouble getting inside and finding our room. Our room was quaint and well decorated with a bathroom of our own. We stayed in the Hunterstown Suite which had a very comfortable bed. The house is decorated in the "period style" with wonderful pictures and history throughout. You could literally spend a few hours just looking at everything on display. The location is within walking distance to the town where we enjoyed lunch at the Springhouse Tavern and dinner at O'Rorke's; both had good food and were within walking distance to the Olinger House. The owner, Bradley, was very gracious, and we enjoyed a wonderful continental breakfast and good conversation before we headed out. My review would be remiss without mentioning Bradley's 4-legged partner, Kane, who provided the perfect morning dose of doggie love to send us on our way. We will DEFINITELY be making the Olinger House B&B a stopping point every time we pass through, and hope to have a family reunion there in the near future! I would recommend Olinger House to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing and pleasant stay in...
