Tommy's Pizza was always an overwhelming wait every time I'd went to Gettysburg. Word on the street was, it was the best Pizza in town and it'd take me many trips before finally finding the trick of getting into here, which was, go during slow season! At last I've finally tried Tommy's and the wait, and fuss are more understandable now. Prices were seemingly more expensive by comparison to some Pizza places, but it was indeed some of the most fulfilling and satisfying pizzas I've ever had. Customer service was good, helpful while ordering and quick to have the food out at a fast pace without a hit to quality. The restaurant was spacious, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It was clean, welcoming and comfortable. Pizza on the strip of Gettysburg, at Tommy's, is a definite must do..

I must admit that I was saddened by my visit here. For some reason, I expected more, but it won't matter to the owners (50 years allegedly) because business was brisk because of location. The entire visit was a disappointment. The pizza was more like Papa Johns than something that would set them apart. It was mediocre at best. The place was definitely family owned, and there is no focus on what maintaining customer areas should look like. Cartons stored in customer areas and a display from some old shirt idea abandoned. Tacky publications left scattered in areas where customers stand by registers. I poured a Pepsi, and it had virtually zero syrup and informed the man behind the counter. He literally did nothing, and I watched customer after customer dump out their drink. There was one older man behind the counter who worked in his own time zone. He was constantly moving as fast as possible while all others worked at a rational speed. I listened to the same questions asked by customers as the place has zero signage as to whether to seat yourself or be seated? Are drink refills free? This 'time zone' man behind the counter was fairly rude and acted like the customer was a problem. All of his responses were gruff and curt. Zero personality no possible accommodations available from him is the impression from about ten minutes of observation. The trash cans had dirty trays stacked up neglected. Dirty table throughout and floors in back area had a lot of trash and leaves blowing around on the floor. Despite a well staffed kitchen, there was zero employee presence in the lobby as it was just neglected. Like I said... I expected more and was severely disappointed.

Edited and lowered due to owner response.. First, anyone can compare the pics and see the difference in crust. Edges and good dough before. Now, nothing. Not even close to everything we have enjoyed in the past. Seriously people, scroll through the pics and compare. 2nd, not even an acknowledgement of the poor customer service. This tells me, and everyone else that this is the new "normal" and can be expected. It is starting to show. We have always had to wait longer for our food. Not anymore. There was only 1 table with people when we picked up our order.3rd, and final, when we started eating here your score was 4.9....now it is 4.4! Not broke? Don't fix it? No worries for me...there's another 4.9 and 2 - 4.7's in this town. I was going to give you another try. Thanks for your response. It saved me from wasting any more money. Tommy, you just broke my heart. I have loved you for years. I have told everyone how much I love you. Although we don't live close, every time we come to Gettysburg, my excitement and anticipation build. Sadly, today may have been the last. I'm officially breaking up with you. Although your Thai chili wings were as delicious as ever, your crust is just high priced Little Ceasars. What happened?!?! To top it all off, the guy at the register just tossed my card at me...no thank you...no acknowledgement. It hearts me to write this...but I hope it brings my Tommy back. I gave 3 stars for the wings and the memory of what was........

I remember going to Tommy's many years ago and really enjoying their pizza. I spent a day in Gettysburg with my husband who has never been and we ended our day with what I thought would be the "best pizza." Parking was a struggle. The spots are limited and the lot itself is a very odd shape and hard to get out of. When we first walked in, there were many people gathered near the counter area and we didn't know what to do, if it was seat yourself, order then sit down, etc., some signs would be nice. We ordered and tried to find a table. Seating was limited so we went to the spaces they had around the corner but the booths were near their bathrooms which smelled horrific coming through the doors so we had to sit elsewhere. The wait was something to be expected with how busy they were I guess (~30 minutes). When orders are ready, the staff lets customers know their order number over an intercom system that was far too loud for my liking and hurt my ears every 3 minutes. When our pizza was ready I was so disappointed when I saw it. We just ordered a large cheese and the cheese on the pizza was completely burnt. I saw some other pizzas around us look burnt like ours but others seemed fine so I don't know if this is their style or what. Sadly, overall it was not a pleasant experience. I really did not like the atmosphere and the pizza was disappointing. I asked my husband if he liked the pizza at all and his reply was "well, it's not the worst I've had."

I’m from NJ, so I’m lucky to have access to good, mom and pop pizza anytime. I ordered a single slice from here and where I’m from you generally see the huge pizza pies on counter that is then reheated and ready for your enjoyment. That wasn’t the case here, but I doubt a pizza was made just for me. Regardless, the slice was so pathetically small, I’d never experienced such a thing. It reminds me of a personal pan from Pizza hut, just less thick. It tasted fine, but given what paid, I might as well have ordered an entire pizza and saved the leftovers as a single slice left much to be desired. But given that I had amazing pizza near Hersheypark, PA I know that your state can do a lot better than this.

If you're not from Gburg than you won't know what I'm talking about. I loved the pizza but not the service. The girl behind the counter had a bad attitude. They don't cut their pizza but then when I took it to the counter the girl said, in a smug way, we're can't cut it after you touched it. It was hard as hell to cut with a plastic fork n hurt my wrist. That's probably arthritis. Here's the thing. My husband did grow up here. He played pinball with Tommy, his son which was a year older than him n his BFF, Chris. He said Tommy would be rolling in his grave. The don't even take the rind off the ham. Tommy used to cut the ham, himself. Y'all just keep proving my points about the last 2 generations.
