I must admit that I was saddened by my visit here. For some reason, I expected more, but it won't matter to the owners (50 years allegedly) because business was brisk because of location.
The entire visit was a disappointment. The pizza was more like Papa Johns than something that would set them apart. It was mediocre at best.
The place was definitely family owned, and there is no focus on what maintaining customer areas should look like. Cartons stored in customer areas and a display from some old shirt idea abandoned. Tacky publications left scattered in areas where customers stand by registers.
I poured a Pepsi, and it had virtually zero syrup and informed the man behind the counter. He literally did nothing, and I watched customer after customer dump out their drink.
There was one older man behind the counter who worked in his own time zone. He was constantly moving as fast as possible while all others worked at a rational speed. I listened to the same questions asked by customers as the place has zero signage as to whether to seat yourself or be seated? Are drink refills free? This 'time zone' man behind the counter was fairly rude and acted like the customer was a problem. All of his responses were gruff and curt. Zero personality no possible accommodations available from him is the impression from about ten minutes of observation.
The trash cans had dirty trays stacked up neglected. Dirty table throughout and floors in back area had a lot of trash and leaves blowing around on the floor.
Despite a well staffed kitchen, there was zero employee presence in the lobby as it was just neglected.
Like I said... I expected more and was severely...
Read moreThe pizza wasn't bad, but it wasn't sensational or even great considering its prominent location right in the center of historic Gettysburg. The pizza was just ok. Nothing special with a number of recipe problems.
3 stars for pizza. Currently, the too large portion of red sauce on the pizza brings the rating down.
If the pizza chef could reformulate the sauce so it isn't as sweet and, instead, tasted like a rich, garlicky marinara that would improve the pizza. Also, applying less sauce (without thinning the consistency) to the pies would be another improvement as the pizza would finish crispier.
4 stars for the dough. The dough could be improved when the sauce portion is lessened as it will crispen, allowing the toppings to better coalesce. Otherwise, the dough flavor & thickness are fine. If the dough were a touch thinner, that would be fine,,,but that's only a personal preference striving for a lower carb ratio.
5 stars for the other elements: Good quality, quantity & flavor cheese and toppings.
2 stars for beverages: I had to dump a diet pepsi because the syrup was too heavy. Would prefer coke products. If not, adding Diet Dr. Pepper would be preferred.
2 stars for atmosphere: a smarter arrangement of clutter & pizza boxes, preferably out of sight, would freshen the place up.
Plastic cutlery did not match. Black forks & white knives were available. Not a big deal,,,just a small detail (details matter) if avoidable. Otherwise, it's a lazy oversight.
There was no table service, only counter service, which were friendly. But many standing around behind the counter who otherwise could be working to improve...

First, anyone can compare the pics and see the difference in crust. Edges and good dough before. Now, nothing. Not even close to everything we have enjoyed in the past. Seriously people, scroll through the pics and compare. 2nd, not even an acknowledgement of the poor customer service. This tells me, and everyone else that this is the new "normal" and can be expected. It is starting to show. We have always had to wait longer for our food. Not anymore. There was only 1 table with people when we picked up our order.3rd, and final, when we started eating here your score was 4.9....now it is 4.4! Not broke? Don't fix it? No worries for me...there's another 4.9 and 2 - 4.7's in this town. I was going to give you another try. Thanks for your response. It saved me from wasting any more money.
Tommy, you just broke my heart. I have loved you for years. I have told everyone how much I love you. Although we don't live close, every time we come to Gettysburg, my excitement and anticipation build. Sadly, today may have been the last. I'm officially breaking up with you. Although your Thai chili wings were as delicious as ever, your crust is just high priced Little Ceasars. What happened?!?! To top it all off, the guy at the register just tossed my card at me...no thank you...no acknowledgement. It hearts me to write this...but I hope it brings my Tommy back. I gave 3 stars for the wings and the memory of...
