I clicked on the new Surprise store website and I was guided to here. My apologies to the Glendale store, but please pass this along. Both me and my wife decided to support our local high school, Valley Vista who was doing a fundraiser for the cheer squad. Normally, I do not even bother to post complaints, I just do not go back to the restaurant. There are plenty of places for me to spend my money but tonight the experience was so bad that I needed to let the restaurant know my experience. There was no wait time and there was plenty of empty tables in both the restaurant and the bar and it took our server 5 minutes to greet us. I wish I had a name to go with this but we were not greeted with one and since we only saw her twice before asking for the check it seems she will remain anonymous. She asked what we would like to drink, she zoomed off without a second to pause or even ask if we wanted an appetizer. When she came back we placed our order and I inquired about the level of spiciness on the traditional wings. She claimed the mild sauce was only butter sauce and that the medium was indeed just a normal mild sauce. It turned out that the medium sauce is indeed quite spicy and not a mild but what was more egregious was that my drink was never re-filled or a check in was done after another server delivered our food. I had witnessed her coming back on the floor chewing food like she had been eating in the back, the chomping of her teeth, like a moose chewing a cudd was more than noticable at 15 feet. Not once did she check our table, but she checked in with her other table 3 times during that span. The food was a different story though. I am sure the kitchen delivered a decent product but it sat and died in the expeditor window waiting for our inattentive server. It came to the table luke warm and soggy. I had wings and my wife had a potpie. She could easily touch her white ceramic dish that the potpie was cooked in, which is a clear indicator that it was not thoroughly heated or was left to die in the window. The manager did stop by and ask if our meal was ok but our server quickly interjected herself between the table and the manager and said she was just giving us our check. The manager did not even check to see if we had something to say, she just left. I guess she had filled her quota of table checks and didn't need to know anything else. The most shocking thing that disturbed me was that our server did not even ask to box up our UNEATEN food. She quickly took my platter of wings and moved to her POS and began going in and modifying the check. Maybe she was still hungry after her quick snack at the expense of our hot dinner, I do not know the answer to that. However, I do know the answer to this question. Will I go back? No, I will not. It is a poorly run, terribly trained and managed as a new store. Anytime that the servers have the power to shoo away a manger from customers there is horrible things going on, plain and simple. Like stated before, poorly trained and poorly managed. To see if management even cares, our dinner experience was between 6:15 to 7:15 on 2-26-14 and my total bill was 29.99 with a two dollar tip. You can look it up in the system to see if it was modified because I can tell you there was no credit given to me by the manager. To the owner and operater of the Surprise store, check your store out more often, take a deeper look at the amount of nightly voids/credits/refunds and it will confirm what is truly going on...
Read moreNormally, everything is great at the Native. Bartenders are friendly and know what my wife and I drink... We go in to watch football for a "date night" on Mondays. Super Bowl 48 was a different story all together. I love to cook and figured I'd make some wings at home. I changed my mind because I wanted to relax instead of cook. I called in a to go order and that's when the nightmare started. I placed my order and she said the wings would be ready in about 20 minutes. Upon arriving at the hostess stand, I was greeted and I paid for my order. The hostess said "I'll be right back with that..." She then took, what sounded like a personal call (I assume... since she answered the phone "Hey!" then began to talk quietly as if she didn't want anyone around her to hear what she was saying) which lasted about 2 minutes... After she hung up the phone, she then helped another customer, who had just walked in, that was looking for a gift card. The lady purchasing a gift card couldn't find her wallet in her purse, then after 30 seconds or more pulled out an expired credit card... the hostess informed her that the card was expired... so the lady fumbled to get another card. After the lady produced a second card, the hostess ran the card and handed it back without even looking at ID or double checking the signature... So now after I've paid and been waiting for almost 10 minutes, the hostess tells someone else to check on my order... He comes back and doesn't say anything loud enough for me to hear... the hostess then goes to the kitchen to check and bag my order. After another 5 minutes, she returns with my order in bags all tied up... She didn't double check my order in front of me or offer me any to go condiments or napkins. Since I've been in the food industry for many years, I'm very critical of these things and was not happy with the service... This is were it gets good... I get to my truck to unbag the order and check to make sure everything was OK... The one thing the hostess did right, was to quadruple tie the bag handles so that not even a starving raccoon could get into these bags. Without opening the bags, I saw that she gave me 4 to go size ranches for my 42 wings, I was going to use the blue cheese at my house, so I was not worried... Though there were no celery sticks either, I was not concerned because I had carrots and celery prepared at home. Upon arriving at my house I was able to force my way into the bags and retrieve my wings. Everything was there except the flavor. None of the 4 flavors were even close to how they normally taste, but I had plenty of cold beer so I said forget it and ate away at these less than mediocre wings. If I didn't already have 2 beers down by the time I started eating I would have went back for a full refund. In closing, I will be perfecting my wing recipe and not giving anymore business to the...
Read moreAlways enjoyed my visits to the location that is now closed on 99th & McDowell. This was my first visit to this location and it was very disappointing to say the least. The wife and I arrived around 4:30 pm and the place was empty with about maybe 5 tables occupied.
There was no wait to be seated and we told the hostess that we wanted to sit in the bar area. She told us to seat ourselves since the bar is first come first serve. We walked over to the bar area and found a table right next to the bar counter and decided to sit there.
The table was dirty so we asked the bartender if someone could clean it. He let the same hostess know that the table was dirty and she came over with a rag to clean it, or so we thought. Before she begins to clean the table she confronts my wife about where we had decided to sit saying that this table was not part of the bar. She said that she only told us to sit ourselves because we told her that we wanted to sit in the bar area and that where we decided to sit was actually the lounge not the bar.
With only 5 other tables currently occupied and no wait in line to be seated, this entire interaction or scolding from the hostess was rude, unprofessional and most importantly, completely unnecessary. My wife felt very awkward and uncomfortable that this hostess would even be saying all this considering the place was virtually empty at the time. My wife then asks her if we're we suppose to be seated here and she replied yes in a very rude tone.
After we were scolded for asking to have the table cleaned, she finally starts to clean the table and in the middle of doing so drops the rag on the floor. I immediately thought that she would go and grab a new rag to finish cleaning the table since this one had fallen to the dirty floor. No such thing happened, she reached down and grabbed the rag off the floor and finished cleaning the table. Luckily for us this was a 4 person table and the half of the table where we sat was cleaned before she dropped the rag.
Overall this was the worst Native experience we've ever had and it's safe to say that we will never return to this location ever again. If we ever want some wings from Native again, we will make the trip out to the one in Surprise Az. Hopefully there they will know how to be courteous and respectful to...
