Ok, so I actually really love this restaurant. It's mostly pretty consistent, reasonable, and has great service. Here's my only complaint; I've ordered a couple of things here and there trying to break out of my normal go-to's. The Texas Rice... So the menu lists it as steak, chicken, shrimp, onions, peppers over rice with broccoli. Something different, interesting. It came out absolutely DRENCHED in cheese sauce. Like, virtually inedible. The menu doesn't mention cheese at all, it was hugely disappointing. I've had this happen with several other dishes- a chicken quesadilla (which was also DRENCHED in cheese sauce, not just melted cheese like every other quesadilla I e ever had), a taco salad, and something else that I'm forgetting at the moment. Unless you like heart attack volumes of liquid cheese on your food, I'd recommend asking them to leave the cheese...

Food was very middle of the road.i had the Alambre (kinda like a Steak chicken and bacon fajita), and Guac Casera. Steak was very different from most.. skirt steak cut into little squares instead of strips.. it's texture slightly foreign. Chicken was ok, occasionally gristly. Onions weren't peeled right, a tough outer skin in my dish was unchewable. Overall seasoning was present, but not very prominent. Tea was unsweet with sweetener added, in the south we brew sweet tea... Guacamole Casera was very thick and hearty, with a strong raw onion component.. I'd call it good quality but I prefer a stronger citrus and cilantro profile.
I'd say objectively, they did a good job, however I tried this place based on overwhelming recommendations, and it did not live up to that hype of best...

As long as you’re not trying to grab something to go on your lunch break. Lol. They were in a huge rush for some reason the other day and there weren’t even all that many people in there. I asked for a full unsweet tea with a splash of sweet. He handed me a half and half which, for someone with hypoglycemia, won’t work. I would have said half and half if that’s what I wanted. I literally said 95% unsweet- 5% sweet. He took it back after thank god I tested it, brought it back, still too sweet. There was no way he was listening to what I was saying, let alone, doing as I had asked. There’s a “to go fee” that I had no idea about… and extra sour cream is $1.50!! Lol. For a taco salad that costs $8.50… my lunch break meal ended up costing over $15!! And I didn’t even sit down with...
