DO NOT STAY HERE! This hotel is outright disgusting. The staff on 7/21 at night were extremely unprofessional and likely racist. From the initial reception the front desk attendant Desin didn’t even acknowledge myself or my cousin and commenced booking a reservation for someone over the phone. Slow, drawn out and didn’t pardon herself or say good evening when she hung. “You have a reservation.” She then gave us the room, that we of course had a reservation for.
The ROOM: The pictures following do not do it justice. Upon walking off the elevator, I can see the soiled, stained carpets. The doors are old and repainted with streaks and cracks. Walked into the room which was dark of course and went to the light at the bedside. On light switch was missing close to the right bed in a double room. As I turned the other on and looked down. I was standing above what looked like a murder scene. There was a dark red large stained with indurated edges. There looked to be some splatters. I’ve been a nurse for a long time in a trauma center. I know what blood looks like. My daughter started crying in fear.
We immediately went down to the front desk where Desin states “Oh, 208.” Uhm, excuse me what?? So, you knew this. She said it’s not blood but we don’t know what it is. They told people it’s hair dye. She then says the manager Paula keeps renting that room out. She offers another room, it is 12am and I have been traveling all day. I’m in no way staying with 2 females and a little girl at the Bates Motel. Within 10 minutes, I come down to now a male at the front Desk with Desin. Meet Gary. I tell them both I am not comfortable and don’t feel safe in this space and I’ll be going else where. Gary assured me in a condescending and ignorant manner that it is not blood, although he does not know what it is. He states a family stated in the room in an extended stay, so he’s positive it’s not blood. Well, I’m not positive and maybe you should check on that family. When I tell him we need to be refunded for all rooms that were booked together he becomes irate and belligerent saying I’m not refunding nothing. I meet his volume and tell him not to speak to us like that. He tells us to get out of the hotel. My 8 year old child is crying and upset. I tell him he will refund us as this place is unsafe and the quality and professionalism here is not present. I ask for his last name and he refuses saying “I’m not giving you nothing.” Now threatens to call the police. I call the police myself, at this rate with what just transpired and 3 black females are in a unsafe environment alone. I need to protect my family. Goodletsville officer responds and speaks to me immediately as I’m waiting outside with my belongings. I tell him the situation and he goes in to speak to Gary whose flailing his arms and dramatic. The office apologized for our experience and asks us to call the day time manager. We leave and book at the Hilton.
Day shift manager We contact Paula the next day. She also refuses to refund the hotel room. She also tries to assure me that it is not blood on the carpet. I assure Paula that her assurance is unwarranted as I do not know her. I make a formal complaint against Gary Gamble and Desin. I asked that she look at the video tapes to validate my story. She tells me she’s been in the hospital and will not be to work until Tuesday. Although with such a serious matter I don’t understand why this would not take priority while she’s there at work.
Do not stay at this hotel. I warn you. The staff are unfriendly and unprofessional and the place is rundown, dirty and likely something really bad...
Read moreLISTEN TO PEOPLE AND DO NOT STAY HERE! If you don’t mind rude service and a dirty, smelly and needs maintenance place that also charges you for things without showing you in writing policies to back them up then by all means go for it.
My friend booked me a stay here and I arrived with my toddler in arms after an 8 hour drive. I called before driving to ask if early check in would be available and was told that it could be possible around 11 am but to check. I was not told they would try to charge me $50 for this.
When I got to the front desk there was a new employee who was friendly and then the manager Paula Desai was there too. She was extremely rude from the get go. Zero empathy, zero care to help me out. She was already saying it would be a problem for me to check in before 4pm. It was about 10am at this point and I could already see guests leaving. She said it could take hours before a room was ready and there would be a $50 charge to check in early. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in many many hotels in the US and NEVER have I been charged to check in early. I asked to see it in writing, as if it a policy it will be written. She refused to show it to me! I asked to cancel with Priceline and they called her and I heard her on the phone with the agent and she was very rude and hung up on them. A supervisor from Priceline called her and she was also rude to them saying, “this is on you guys, you should not even be calling me about this, there is nothing I can do on my end here.”
While waiting in the lobby for this the place was dirty, there was water leaking all over the floor from an A/C, from the outside I could see blinds in the windows all broken in rooms and from reading other reviews the rooms don’t seem to get any better.
Here is a short video of me asking again to just show me in writing the policy that they charge for early check in. I would not argue the point if she could provide me where it says that. She got up and ran away.
I ended up booking at the Holiday Inn Express across the street and they were very nice, clean and had a room ready right away. I asked if they charge for early check in and the lady said that some hotels do that but not in this area, downtown Nashville sometimes hotels will do that. When I let her know my experience from across the street she smiled and another maintenance staff also laughed knowingly as apparently I was not the first person to have issues with this manager/hotel.
Priceline was willing to cancel the reservation but Paula refused and said they did not get the funds for this reservation and that it is up to Priceline to deal with. This is untrue from the several calls with Priceline agents I spoke to. I don’t know how this hotel is allowed to be run in this manner and the owners should listen to the guests and do something about this. I know for sure I will never be back but I will stay at Holiday Inn Express in the future as they were night...
Read moreWhen we checked in everything was fine and the staff were friendly. It was after getting to the room where things started going wrong. To start off when we entered the battery from the smoke detector was hanging out of the alarm. When we inquired with the front desk about it, the man gave us a quizzical look and asked us if we wanted it to be taken care of. We responded yes, because we would prefer to have the peace of mind of knowing we’re safe in case of a fire starting on the hotel. After talking with the front desk no one ever showed up to our room to fix the alarm. When we took a shower the water went from hot to freezing cold and unbearable in way less than even five minutes. On the final night while opening the sliding bathroom door the track for it skipped past where it was supposed to catch the door and caused the door to come off the track, and crashed down onto the bedside lamp and onto my partner whom was sitting on the bed. His shoulder was injured in the door crashing, as even the staff agreed the bathroom doors are very heavy. We ended up getting the door back on the track ourselves before going right down to the front desk to report it and inquire about speaking with management. When we checked out of the hotel they took down our information and told us that the manager would get back to us the next morning. That was on Sunday, 03/16, and we still have not heard from the hotel or management despite us reaching out again over the phone. Update: We finally got a hold of the elusive manager who only appears in the morning hours on 03/20, and she was argumentative the entire conversation. She claimed we told the front desk staff that we did not want the room’s alarm fixed. Which is crazy a she was nowhere within the vicinity of the conversation as it was nighttime outside when it occurred, and would be evident if footage was properly reviewed. Even if a guest had responded no why would a hotel want to be liable if a guest smoked in their room or a fire occurred? When discussing the injury my partner sustained from the door she was unconcerned and unbothered. Meanwhile even the front desk staff agreed rhe doors are unsafe and should be changed to hinged doors. Overall just please be wary of this hotel, but especially be cautious of the manager. If this is how Wingate treats disabled veterans then I would imagine they’d treat anyone this...
