SKIMMING SCAM? BEWARE! This review pains me to write, as I have been a fan of Jake's Diner for almost 20 years and have many, many fond memories associated with visits to their various locations. Today's visit was memorable for other reasons. I visited with my mom and my wife. The food was great, as per usual, but when it came time to pay, the total amount shown on the bills we got before we put down our cards was not the total we were charged. I understand that at this location Jake's has decided to pass merchant fees on to their customers in the form of a surcharge, but this surcharge was not responsible for the discrepancy between receipts. The TOTAL amount, including taxes, BEFORE the surcharge, went up by $0.07. It isn't a lot, but spread over the volume of customers that Jake's has, it adds up. Neither my waitress nor the manager would acknowledge the increase, blaming the surcharge over and over again and saying there was nothing they could do. They admitted that many customers had complained about similar discrepancies with their bills, so it is a known issue, but not one we were warned about. In the end, all told, my table was charged about $0.25 more than what was on our bills, and with no apology or even acknowledgement of the issue. I still left a good tip because I'm not trying to ruin anyone's day, but I am highly disappointed in this deceitful practice and the aggressively avoidant way in which it was "handled." I will never return to this location. Buyers beware.

Looking for a place to hit up brunch and landed here during the weekday! The ambiance and staff vibes felt like the kind of diner that attracts regulars, which peaked my curiosity. I imagine that it's the kind of spot that offers consistency to folks who especially appreciate a solid place to get their fave fixings. No thrills or frills to it! That's what it was for us too. Lots of options to pick from especially if you like breakfast food. I had an omelette with biscuit and gravy and felt pretty satisfied. Hubby and I both left full and happy!

Thought we would try a second location of Jake’s Diner after a less than impressive lunch at another. I had the Philly Steak omelet, and gravy. Both had great taste though the omelet would benefit with a nice slather of whiz. The wife had a sausage and egg wrap with grits that she enjoyed as well. The staff were polite and quick with our food, and the restaurant is very clean and modern. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

I really don't like to be a negative person when it comes to reviews on restaurants, as I used to be a waitress and I know how hard the service industry is. But today was honestly the most bizarre and terrible experience I've ever had at a restaurant, and we're usually really easy going!

It started out with us being seated, and then the host came over to us and asked what our name was put down as (there had been a wait) and we told him- and he said "oh I didn't say your name, I said 'Cassey', I was trying to seat them not you". Uhhh okay? We were apologetic and said oh shoot- we're really sorry, we could have sworn you said our name! He just left the table after that. We then sat and waited for about 15 mins before anyone even came to our table to bring drinks, luckily there was a waitress that seemed to be helping out the server in our section and she brought us our waters.

Our waitress finally showed up to our table after we had been sitting for close to 30 mins with no one to take our order, which we would have been cool with had she just said "sorry for the wait, it's crazy!" or something like that, we understand. But instead she just looked at us and said "today is my second day on the floor. It's really busy today" and we were like....okay? So we gave our order, and then it proceeded to take another 30 MINS just to get our food, meanwhile all the other tables in her section had gotten their food already. By the time we got our food, it was super cold like it had been sitting in the window for a long time. We had to pull someone aside after 10 mins to ask for syrup, as our waitress did not even check on us one single time while we were there.

She finally showed up again and put the bill on our table and walked away. Look- I totally understand being a new server, especially when it's super busy it's really overwhelming and stressful! But I've never been treated like this at a restaurant before, it was honestly super weird. To not check on your table ONE TIME the entire time they're there??

We've been to this location before and it was fine. I don't know what's going on recently but we will definitely...

Eaten at Jake's plenty of times, will never go back after the experience we just had. Lazy, pretentious waitstaff that are wasting the owner's time and money.

We just walked into the Battleground location at 8:32pm expecting to get a few plates to-go on the way home, didn't even want a sit-down meal. Short, dark-haired girl at the front counter looks at us like we're aliens, no hello, no anything, she just says "You can't order anything, we're done for the night." What?

There were at least 3 tables of customers still eating IN the restaurant, one of the cooks was just sitting on a bar stool chatting and flirting with this same waitress/cashier girl. Neither one of them were working at all; they were doing absolutely nothing. Asked if we got the hours wrong because we thought they closed at 9 her answer was "Yeah, but we've been working all day." Right, that's kind of the point of having a job isn't it? We had just gotten off work ourselves and were starving, that's why we stopped in during Jake's regular business hours to take home a simple dinner.

If you're not going to cook eggs and bacon half an hour before you close, or pretend like it'll kill you to do something so simple, just change your hours to 8:30, don't list your restaurant as closing at 9pm. It takes 5 minutes to throw eggs on a grill and you'd still have 20-25 minutes before closing to clean anything up.

Garbage-tier Customer Service with employees who act like they're breaking their backs to cook a breakfast plate for you. Jake's won't get another dollar from our family because of the entitled, trash attitude of their staff.

If you want a family-friendly, courteous experience with great food and staff, skip Jake's altogether and just go two lights down to Herbies Diner. We eat there every other Sunday for Brunch and have never run into the kind of disrespectful, lazy people that Jake's apparently...

First and last time going to this location! Ordered $60 worth of food on my birthday and the ENTIRE meal was nasty, not fully cooked and couldn't be eaten!! The 24 wings were old and you could tell they had been previously cooked and they just recooked them and threw some sauce on it. Makes me think someone ordered ithe wings, brought it back and instead of them trashing the wings they gave me the old order and reheat it! That's how bad it was! My sausage and turkey bacon was not cooked at all! My French toast has no butter, syrup, fork or anything so we had dry toast. Smh. Hash browns were gross. Scrambled eggs and cheese is what I ordered instead they gave us an unseasoned torn up plain omelette and sprinkled some cheese on top. Had to trash the food and just go to IHOP. Was willing to bring the entire order back so they could remake . Had to go through 5 different employees including the managers before they would remake only the least expensive dish with the eggs TWO days after. Smh. They would not remake the wings even thougj I had them to bring back!!! So ended up spending over $100. WORST EXPERIENCE AT JAKES EVER!!!!! Will never go back. If they mess up an order it shouldn't be that difficult for them to remake it. It wasn't difficult for them to take my money! The owner told the staff to only remake the dish with eggs so they didn't loose money I suppose Friendly staff but the policies show that the owners do not care about the quality of food being given to the customers. So Jakes doesn't care about the customers!...
