Aryana Afghan Cuisine is a culinary gem that deserves every bit of acclaim it receives. From the moment I stepped through the door, I knew I was in for a remarkable dining experience. The ambiance at Aryana Afghan Cuisine is a delightful fusion of traditional and modern elements, creating an inviting and cozy atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable meal.
The journey began with a delightful selection of appetizers that left me craving for more. The Nukhud, a traditional Afghan dish, was an absolute revelation. The flavors were so exquisite and intense that I was transported to the vibrant streets of Kabul with every bite. The spices used in this dish were perfectly balanced, and the tender meat was a testament to the chef's skill.
The Naan, a staple of Afghan cuisine, was freshly baked and a true testament to the art of bread-making. The texture was perfect, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. It was a delightful companion to the various dishes I sampled, providing the ideal vessel to scoop up every last morsel of flavor.
But the Bolani, oh, the Bolani! These stuffed flatbreads were nothing short of a revelation. The crispy exterior gave way to a sumptuous filling bursting with flavor. The combination of herbs, spices, and vegetables was a true delight for the taste buds, and I found myself savoring each bite, trying to decipher the intricate flavor profile.
To complement these extraordinary dishes, Aryana Afghan Cuisine offers an extensive selection of drinks that are as diverse and impressive as the food itself. The drink menu includes an array of beverages, from traditional Afghan teas to a range of refreshing fruit juices. Each one was a harmonious accompaniment to the meal, enhancing the overall experience.
In sum, my visit to Aryana Afghan Cuisine was a revelation of culinary excellence. The Nukhud, Naan, Bolani, and drinks were not just food; they were an experience that transcended the palate. The flavors were nothing short of mind-blowing, leaving a lasting impression that lingers in my memory. The atmosphere, with its warm and welcoming décor, added a layer of authenticity that made the entire experience unforgettable.

Read moreHaving never tried Afghan cuisine before, I asked the young female server that I wanted to have a traditional Afghan meal, as if I was in the country. I asked her, "What are the most popular dishes that Afghans typically eat?" And with that, I ordered all of her recommendations. You have to start off with the most popular of all their foods, Naan. This bread is HUGE but tastes so good! I didn't finish it because I wanted to save room for the rest. I also ordered as a starter the Bulani. So tasty, esp with the spicy dipping sauce that came with it. For our entrees, I ordered the Mantoo and my wife ordered the three lamb skewer. We also ordered a side of rice and yogurt. We both tried each other's entree and they were excellent! The lamb was so tender it just fell apart. The Mantoo and the rice were great as well. The yogurt isn't like the typical yogurt we are familiar with, it's more like a sweet milk. It is that watery, but it was delicious! I also ordered the Chai Sabz hot tea. That was the best hot tea I've ever had! My wife loved the rosewater with basil seeds. We also ordered the Ferni for dessert.
While I didn't have any issues at all with the food, the service could have been better. Our server forgot the order of yogurt and the dessert. Then it turns out that we were never told they didn't have the Ferni until I reminded her that we ordered dessert. They did give us a complimentary Baghlawa for dessert instead. Even so, when it came to ask for the check, we couldn't get the attention of our server, so we just left our table and paid at the front. I know she was trying her best and she was constantly busy. They need more help with servers (they are aware of their staffing issues and even apologized for them), but I would definitely go back again the next time...
Read moreFirst impressions taste-wise was really good. If I were just reviewing how everything tasted, I would probably do 4-4.5 stars. I ordered for take out some vegetarian boxes and the chicken kabobs. The chicken was really tasty. It looked kind of dry but there was some desirable moistness and seasoned really well. The kidney bean stew and the cauliflower curry were both really good too. I had hoped the vegetarian boxes would have contained more protein and fiber oriented foods and less rice, but it’s pretty common to be given a ton of rice in such things, and at least the rice had bits of spinach in it. The naan bread was amazing, although the serving sizes were tiny triangles, would have liked more. The customer service was great. They were able to accommodate my request to do curbside pickup, running my credit card in to be charged.
There were really only 2 downsides: 1) it was really difficult to figure out what they actually had available to order for take out. They have a website but it doesn’t list lunch options. Their Facebook page listed more details but not in a clear and concise manner, e.g. they list the item names translated from the native tongue but don’t desribe what they are. To save others the time: they only have a certain selection of food they do each day and serve it all day long. 2) All the food was flecked with orange, some dishes like the curry were oozing with orange grease. My bowels were not happy with me later that day. This orangeness is not uncommon to any other near Eastern restaurants we’ve tried in Greenville, but it also means we won’t be eating here very often...
