I just did not have a good experience at this place which is unfortunate cause I had been planning for a while to go while I was visiting Greenville. It was a Friday night that I and so that could have been a factor. They seemed short staffed (only 2 bartenders who where also running food to tables) and honestly they seemed to be attending to their regulars/friends mostly. I was with a friend who preferred food and the bartender was kinda rude when she asked for a gluten free bread option and continued to kinda go back and forth about if it was an allergy or preference and she actually just couldn’t have the wheat which is why the bread was the biggest issue but the other items (fries cooked in general fryer with non gluten free items) was ok she reassured to the bartender that just the gluten free bread would be fine and the girl says “so are you allergic or not” this went on for longer than it honestly should have. What really was the worst thing was my friend ordered a coke in a bottle and the bartender grabbed the coke brought it over to her and says “I can’t give you this…. Because you have a gluten allergen right” it was so rude and the other people at the bar (who seemed to be friends with the bartender) just made it worse by looking at my friend and just putting her on the spot. I was so up set but decided to stay out of it as to not escalate the issue. My thing is that is not how you treat a customer she was not being rude she made a very simple request if the bartender didn’t feel comfortable serving her gluten items after she disclosed her allergy (which many people have degrees of allergies and most gluten allergies have to do with digestion and not anaphylactic shock) then she very simply could have said that instead she rather shame a customer who made a request that is stated on the menu. The bartender was rude and combative for no reason and was not a good look. I don’t live in Greenville but I visit often and because how she treated my friend I will no be returning I see other reviews and seems like maybe this was just a isolated issue but the fact she did that thing with the coke bottle was just so...
Read moreWe decided to have some girl time at happy hour here. Their happy hour app special is awesome! Buy one get one FREE! They also have a discount on drinks. No beer on draft here because the building infrastructure wouldn't support the kegs, according to the bartender. Lots of beers and other fun drinks to choose from, though. I tried the Paloma and Spicy Boi from the bar. Paloma was very refreshing! The Spicy Boi is a unique combination of tequila, ginger beer, lime, and a little kick. Even the presentation was fun.
We decided to get a good feel for the apps by ordering most of them. I mean...BOGO! The Philly Cheesesteak eggrolls were a favorite of my friends. I liked them, but a tad greasy for me. The pita chips that come with the hummus and jalepen̈o pimento cheese were nicely seasoned. The pimento cheese wasn't spicy at all and had bacon added in as well. Hummus was tasty! The queso dip (also with bacon) was fun to dip the fries that came with it as well as everything else we got! Dip it all!! The jerk chicken fries were the spiciest item we got. Fresh jalepeños and a tangy spicy jerk sauce gave this dish a ton of flavor. The upstairs bartender took great care of us and answered a ton of questions for us. We had a great experience and a lot of that had to do with our excellence service. Fyi- much cooler upstairs if you are temperature sensitive. It was great to beat the heat and overlook Coffee St...
Read moreSociety ramen in downtown Greenville is the Indiana Jones of all ramen, I had the Fuego San Diego which was a pork broth with fire roasted corn, steak, avocados, jalepenos, and hot taki chips topped with a drizzle of sriracha and pesto. These ingredients are never expected to be in ramen and I think its very weird but it was one of the most amazing experiences Ive ever had. The broth was an umami punch in the face and the noodles had the perfect alkalinity so it made it very "springy" rather than chewy which is the ideal authentic Japanese ramen noodle texture. The avocado in the hot broth gave the noodles and soup a creamy texture while the taki chips gave you the acidic crunchy punch in the bite. I didnt think i'd like the corn but it gave it a small sweet boost if you choose to eat it. The carne asada gave the entree a very hearty feel to the overall dish and the sriracha gave it a subtle spicy kick. The cilantro gave everything a refreshing aftertaste to it so nothing was overwhelming. I was extremely full after appetizers but I HAD to try every combination of textures so I finished the whole thing and I am still not done experimenting with this one single bowl. I HAVE to go back and eat it again and experience the crazy adventures that await me for the rest of the menu. I will personally go back and try every bowl...
