THE BEST SLIDERS/ BURGERS IN GENERAL I have ever had! I have never been to a restaurant that had amazing food, phenomenal service/ servers, and an extremely welcoming atmosphere... My first time going was such a transcendent experience that I have gone back 3 plus times already. For my first experience I was walking Falls Park trail with my Husky and afterwards decided to sit outside for dinner and when I checked inside with the staff I saw they were extremely busy and even though I was the only person sitting outside, and every server was booked with every table being full inside, regardless of that fact the Manager on staff still accommodated me and went out of his way to come outside to take my order. That was such an amazing experience on its own, as I have never been to a restaurant where a Manager on duty took on responsibilities of a server and was extremely proficient, kind, and accommodating. Also during the end of my first experience, and next two experiences at this restaurant my servers were Joshua and Kimberly and they both are just the best servers, proficient workers, and just in general best people I have ever met. Kimberley was extremely kind and accommodating to the fact that I had to have my service dog with me and Joshua is by far the most welcoming person I have ever met in my life, along with how customer focused and alert he was well this business just is very lucky to have such an amazing commodity in Joshua, Kimberly, and their Manager. I came to Greenville on vacation to visit a friend for Thanksgiving, but also to decide if this was a city I was interested in moving my dog training business to and after my transcendent experiences with not only the Spirit & Bower staff but other customers I met while at this restaurant well I feel so welcomed like I am already a Greenville citizen that has been living here for years, and certainly made my decision that this is a city I plan to move to. Thank you Spirit & Bower for the best experience I have had in my life and thank you for having such an...
Read moreWe've been here quite a few times, giving it several chances. There are two servers which are friendly, welcoming, and "have a personality." The rest range from apathetic to outright rude. The prices are significantly higher than other bars in the area (to the rate of 4x on some of the whiskeys).
Most alarmingly, this past weekend one of my children was drinking water from a glass when it shattered in his mouth, cutting his tongue. I went to the bar, notified them of what happened, and the bartender told me simply to get another glass "from the water station." Another server overheard the interaction and took action, rather than acting apathetic like the bartender. She got us another water and notified the manager, and checked on the well-being of our child. It was later explained that the glasses are thin and known to break due to the dishwasher heat. The manager was friendly, and brought us some gauze... then gave us $5 off the bill. Honestly, I don't know what I would've expected, but a token discount on the bill is the least of it.
In my life I've never had a glass break in my mouth, nor have I known anyone else to have run into this situation. If these glasses are known to break, and then one does so in a kid's mouth while he's drinking from it, I'd think they would immediately pull all the glasses from use and get them replaced. But, hey, at least we got $5 off our bill.
There are better bars in the area, folks. While the view from Spirit & Bower is fantastic, and The Grand Bohemian is a work of art, it's not worth spending money at the bars. Go in, look around, admire the sites ... then hit one of the many other locations in the area to satisfy your hunger and thirst. At the very least, you could save yourself from scoring your tongue and lips with their...
Read moreGot an email proclaiming "the Wait is Over. Now Open: Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville," so we headed over to Spirit & Bower to check it out. Atmosphere & Architecture... absolutely fabulous!! Service... horrendous. After meandering through the beautiful hotel lobby and art gallery, we ended up outside on the veranda on a gorgeous evening at a table overlooking the Reedy River at about 8:20. We were looking to order some cocktails and bites, having just flown back into Greenville. And we waited, and we waited. After about 20 minutes, we approached a server at the table across from ours (the 3rd time she had visited this table while we were there) who stated she would be right with as soon as she got the drinks for the other table. And we waited. As we waited, a woman from the other table came over to our table and told us that the service was not good and that if we wanted a drink, it would be better to simply go to the bar and order. She also stated that they were out of food. Kind of odd for opening night to not be properly staffed and to run out of food. We were grateful for the information but decided to stay and see what the server had to say. And we waited. After about 10 more minutes of the server never coming back, we left. We were at that table for over 30 minutes and never had anyone acknowledge our presence. On the way out I wanted to share the information on what had happened with the hotel manager, since it was opening night and they probably should know. The manager appeared disinterested in what I had to share and feigned concern. Moral of the story... there is work to do on the staffing at Grand Bohemian and most definitely, "the Wait...
