My teen loves sushi. My husband and I don't. We were excited to try Takisushi to today, as it seemed to cater to all our preferences. We ate dinner there, and the food was excellent.
I am giving a one star review for the below two reasons:
Instead of fried fish on my nachos, after the first few bites of fish, I bit into fried shrimp, and realized that it was mix. Asked the waitress about the same, she accepted the mix-up, said she's new and made a mistake, she offered to bring fried fish on the side. I told her I am fine, I wasn't that hungry to begin with. She then said, I'll not charge you for the shrimp, I'll take it off your check. I told her that would be great. I am not allergic to shrimp but simply don't care for the texture, so I picked the shrimp off the nachos, and ate at least half of the nachos. They were good. However, when the check came I was charged for the shrimp, asked the waitress about the same, she said she can't take it off the bill since I didn't send the dish back. She said if you want I can get you a fried fish on the go, I said no thank you.
Firstly, I didn't ask for anything, she offered and I accepted, not sure why she didn't honor that. Second, I would have had no problem paying for the dish, not everyone is looking for extra portions on their plate or a free go to or a freebie.
My bill had $2.19 added pretax, when asked what item this was, I was told that it was a service charge for processing my credit card. This is a sneaky way of fleecing customers as most would not notice such a small charge. Why not ask me cash or card before preparing my bill? Most businesses would ask the customer if they are ok with a small surcharge for processing small amounts. Nothing was asked, this information was not posted anywhere. At this point, I didn't want to spend any more time at this restaurant, I had cash on me but didn't want to ask the waitress to redo my bill. I paid the...
Read moreWas hoping to find a decent sushi meal while staying at a nearby hotel. Figured the sushi wouldn't be top notch (even though their pricing is for it) but wanted to take care of the sushi craving. Ordered 5 different nigiri (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, masago, and ikura) along with one role. It arrived and was what I expected, not the best looking pieces of piece (more from blocks of fish for the salmon and tuna). I usually start and end with Ikura as it's my favorite besides uni. First piece tasted a bit older if you know what I mean but still edible. It wasn't until I had the last piece that I put it in my mouth, tried to chew, and it was literally like trying to chew hard bubble gum. Spit it out into a napkin and it looked like the egg sack was still attached and the eggs were actually stuck to some of my teeth. Prior I had seen the two "sushi chefs" talking about the roe (could barely overhear as I was sitting at the bar right next to where they were making it) and realized they prolly were debating to serve it and just decided to send it out. Crappy quality control. I told the bartender they served a piece that was inedible and was just asked if I wanted my bill. The service was actually attentive and above average till then. Also, when paying, the final number that totals your price and tip isn't what you are actually charged. They add over 2% for their "processing fees" and if you didn't read the receipt, you'd never know. I caught it as I I round my receipts for easy accounting but the number didn't match. I was told it shows on the bard reader but can assure you, it didn't. Not sure how legal that is to show it after you agree to pay a number. Overall, would not...
