UPDATE - 2.27.2021: What a disappointment. I had to change my original 5-star review to a 1-star. Today's lunch was highly disappointing. Not only were the portions much, much smaller; much of the food was overcooked. My dining companion had the fish and chips again...this time, his meal was miserably over-cooked. He ate a portion and sent it back. He was offered a replacement meal, which he declined. Rather than his meal being removed from our tab, we were told that it couldn't be. Kathy, who was so lovely on our first visit, came to our table and was disrespectful and argumentative. We most definitely, will never be back. Run, with swiftness, to this hidden gem! Mazama Brewing is a fantastic, family-owned, local spot! The menu has some really cool lunch and dinner options, tasty nibbles and drinks and a new awesome brunch menu. My dining companion had the fish and chips which he said, were some of the best he's ever had. I had the Bacon Jam Burger (recommended by the lovely Kathy💕) and it did not disappoint...it was juicy and delicious. The frites...oh my, THE FRITES ❤!!!! Get a side of the garlic aoli for dipping!!! 💯✔🥰 The portions are huge and the food is dynamite! They have an awesome beer menu...being a wine kinda girl, I opted for the Bottomless Mimosa. Much love and gratitude to the beautiful Ms. Taylor for keeping my glass full at all times! 💕🙌🙏 Kathy and Taylor took amazing care of us, it was a wonderful experience and a delicious lunch! The fellow from the kitchen (I'm sorry, I didn't catch his name) popped out and was a delight! Many, many thanks to you all!!! 💕🙏 They have a great outdoor seating area...we met a cute couple having a beer outside with their dogs. How rad is that! ✌💕🐶🍻 Great people, great food, good energy. ✨💖 We will definitely be back, very soon. 🥰

I loved everything about this place! I will recommend this place to all my Houston friends and Family! It’s very laid back and family oriented. We had the Fish and Chips, Fried Brussel Sprouts, and BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich…. IT WAS SO DELICIOUS! Update: We come here every weekend for a Mosaic Beer, EL Duque Beer, Fries and Fried Brussel Sprouts! 🤭 it’s so yummy! Update 10/30/22: First time making it to the Brunch… OMG listen! I am from Houston, major foodie soooo their pancakes are so buttery and milky flavored it took me back to childhood! It’s has this crunch around the edges, way better than LaProvence (across the way). My beloved loooves the French Toast and we just love Kathleen’s kind heart and service. The entire staff is so attentive and homely I just love going their every once in a weekend. P.S. So good I forgot the take a picture!!!! 1/22/23 My goodness I love this place! As a Houstonian, moving to Oregon has been tough when it comes to food choices because it’s either a hit or miss. This place is a hit! Their buttermilk pancakes are LIFE! It’s should really be advertised more as the spot of choice for buttermilk pancakes! I love Kathy and her spirit is always humble. She’s very personable and kind. I come here at least twice a month! If I could I’d come every weekend. This place should be 5 star.

This Whites only bar should have a good signage to discourage other ethnicities, so I strayed in by accident.

Having sponsored multiple team events at Mazama and having actively recommensed colleagues to this location, going to the extent of bringing them over, like I did today, I didnt think I'd say this about Mazama. But Dont come here if you are South Asian.

I thought I could identify with the owner, given her background in tech, just like myself and her stories of struggles from Corvallis to Hillsboro. But things changed at our latest visit and I feel more betrayed than angry

I took a colleague for a beer and snacks to Mazama, since he has never been there and was leaving Hillsboro. I was stupid to think Mazama was the correct choice of last place for him. We picked a seat outside and offered to pay for the beer upfront. Given we also ordered some food, the bar tender noted that its better to pay later, and I acquiesced. But then the owner stepped in quite abruptly and dryly commented: "just dont get drunk so much that you leave without paying". It was uncalled for! I was stunned but laughed it off. However my colleague was disgusted and exclaimed outside that it was very rude and borderline racist and asked me why i still stayed on after that kind of insult. The fact that another person also noticed how nasty the event was made me realize that i didnt read things wrong. Anyway we finished the meal, paid for the food and left never to return or recommend this place again.

Given the renewed rise in hate against south asians and in general anyone not looking right, it makes sense that people would enjoy taking these cheapshots when they know the system empowers them to be racist, but you do feel betrayed when people taking these cheapshots turn out to be ones you thought were...

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am to have discovered this absolute gemstone. I go here with a work buddy of mine on our lunch hour, and I have never been disappointed. My two favorite items on the menu are the fried chicken sandwich, and then the bacon jam burger. Both delectable and unique to other restaurants! The fries…probably my favorite battered fries literally anywhere I’ve ever been. The beer menu is always excellent and full of great choices. And they always have specials going on in both food AND beer. Most recent special was the steak and frites (steam and fries). Steak was cooked PERFECTLY medium rare, exactly how I asked for it. And the fries were the perfect compliment. Here’s a trick: there is a parking garage directly behind the brewery under the apartment building. You need to go to the meter to get a pass for your dashboard, but the first two hours are FREE! That means plenty of parking!

If you are looking for amazing American food done super well and elevated above the classics, this is the place to go. The staff always goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need, and have always been attentive and have been able to answer every question I throw their way. They’ve even gone out of the way to make suggestions for improvements to what I’ve been ordering and haven’t failed me even once.

I hear they have weekend brunch. I am excited to try and will update my review once I get...
