Totally heartbroken..... We traveled well out of our way to experience the legendary Pool Bar Jim's. Let me start by saying our server was great. Absolutely no complaints about service. Our drinks were presented beautifully and looked amazing, however after 2 rounds and a 100 bucks later 3 adults literally felt nothing. We ordered doubles mind you! The pineapple in our painkillers was bitter and sour not even close to fresh. We had planned on coming right back and having lunch and another round after cooling off. But as we walked to the car to grab our towels for a quick dip in the ocean,(and to smoke a cigarette, which the staff at the bar told us to go smoke on the beach as well)we were stopped by a gentleman at the resort that threatened to tow us if we went towards the beach with our towels. Like seriously we weren't planning on staying at the beach we literally came to Jim's for lunch and cocktails. However after the threat we quickly decided to just get in the car and leave. Sadly as much as I'd love to give them another chance, I honestly don't believe it's worth the hassle you get for dropping a few hundred dollars for lunch and 2 drinks for 3 people. I hate having to leave a bad review it breaks my heart. We totally expected this to be the highlight of our trip, and are just completely bummed by the...
Read moreBest little place on Hilton Head Island. The drinks are legendary and the food is spectacular. Hard to get to but worth it. Either circle around and enter from the beach or go through the garage. Behind Seacrest condos. We walked there from our hotel up the beach. Had grouper tacos the first time as a daily special and really, really good. And inexpensive. They advertise the best grouper sandwich on the Island and I believe them now. Large piece of fish cooked just right. Also not expensive. My wife raves about the sweet tea chicken. We had onion rings twice as a daily special and both times they were great. Light breading and thick onion. Small menu but all well done plus daily specials. The best thing is Jessica, the server. She is in perpetual motion going from one end of the restaurant to the other. As she flies past, she is always friendly, asks if you need anything, brings water as soon as she sees that you're low. I never saw anyone having to wait for anything ever. I think she's always smiling, but who can tell with COVID-19 masks? We went 4 times in our 10 days here. I could have...
Read moreI used to go to the original Pool Bar Jim's back in the late 1970s when it was located at the Hilton Head Inn. We were young and spent our summer days hanging out at this iconic establishment when we could avoid our summer jobs. Many great memories, cool people, lots of partying. When the Inn was torn down, we gravitated to The Tiki Hut at The Holiday Inn. I am glad to hear that PBJ's is back at the awesome Sea Crest and sounds as popular as ever. Jim doesn't look like he has aged a bit. Will have to swing by tomorrow now that I am back on the Island permanently, or at least semi permanently. Once established on HHI, you never really leave for too long - especially those of us who lived on the Island and came of age here when it was still just a small, summer destination. Things were cheap back then, very few crowds, and no traffic! Damn, you could even easily find free and readily available parking at both Coligney and Harbour Town back in those days, as well as go and see great live bands at The Old Post Office music venue on Pope Ave. It's deja vu all...
