The very popular O'Bagel. I was finally in the area after 7am and got a chance to stop at O'Bagel. Walking in the place, I completely passed by where I'm suppose to order. I guess no one was there when I walked in. The place gets crowded and the place is dimly lit. So unfortunately for me, I would have came when there was no one on the line. By the time I realized that I passed where I was suppose to order at, there were now 2 people on line. Not a big deal. The area I originally walked to was the pick up area where 3 men were standing and that's what made me feel that that was thee order line.
Now at the correct location which is the register as soon as you walk in the door, smh, I was ready to order. The lady at the register was very pleasant and nice. She punched my order into a computer and accepted payment for my meals. I ordered some potato tots, several different types of bagels and a few sandwiches. After all this was my first time in thee establishment and I like to try a little bit of everything. They have a very small variety of drinks, none of them being a favorite of mine. I would say that I was in O'Bagel for about 8 minutes until I was called by name to pick up my order. Unfortunately, only a third of my order was ready when I approached the counter. The guy at the pick up station was scrambling to find all of my order. Looks like they write on the foil with a marker to let him know which order each item belongs to. They baged up everything but the drinks. Weird. Maybe I should have asked for a bag but I just grabbed the drinks by hand and left.
With 10 minutes left to each and get to my destination, we notice that 2 of the orders were wrong. Not good for a first visit. My orders were not complicated. Nonetheless, no time to return.
After all is said and done, I think I will agree with the neighborhood critics. Possibly thee best bagel spot in Hoboken. Fresh and soft bagels. Good system but obviously could have been better. If this place gets crowded and I'm sure it does, it could be crazy. Small space but it's now my go to spot for an early morning breakfast....
Read moreI have eaten here so many times and it is always our go to on the weekend especially when we have visitors in town, they were typically always amazing. When I went this past weekend I received a bagel that truly shouldve broken a tooth it was so hard and there was maybe half a scoop of cream cheese on a part of the bagel, I ended up throwing away half of it and spreading cc on only one half and it STILL was not even enough to cover half of a bagel. Additionally, the women handing out bagels is so unbelievably shockingly bad at her job I have never seen anything like it. I witnessed a man in another group who Im assuming was there for a while stand up and ask if his new bagel still wasnt ready(she was literally standing there doing nothing and letting prepared bagels pile up, it was truly amazing she was not even pretending to work she was literally just standing there), it was then she proceeded to walk and essentially pretend to pick up a new bagel until the man finally put his other one on the counter and walked away. I saw my bagel come out as well as other orders continued to flow (i literally got one bagel with cream cheese), she literally stood there as they built up and did nothing it was truly the most insane thing ive ever seen. After she proceeded to bag bagels in the most random order i have ever seen, calling only some names and other filled stapled bags sit for minutes, she finally put my singular bagel in a bag and called my name. The people I met said that the man at the counter also was such a jerk to them when they ordered and their bagels were also tragically bad. I dont know what happened to the people who used to work there and turned out such amazing bagels in such a timely fashion, the disarray i witnessed yesterday was honestly just hard to watch, I hope they fix whatever happened in there because it would be such a shame for this place to start sucking.
UPDATE: Just so everyone knows, when you email them they literally don't answer. Feels fishy, curious to know if they answered other people. This bad bagel has turned into a much larger fiasco. We are...
Read moreThis review breaks my heart because I am reviewing this location specifically because it was not a good experience. I have been to the other O'bagel location in Stirling and gave it raving reviews.
Unfortunately, this location, in Hoboken is extremely busy. I walked up and saw people waiting but noticed a relatively short line for ordering so we thought we would give it a try. We had about 40 minutes before we had to meet a little bit further down the road so we assumed 40 minutes would be enough for two bagels.
We ordered a standard sausage, egg, and cheese on a plain as well as a plain with butter. We waited 20 minutes and nothing came out. Also to note, they still have their bathroom closed so we could not even use a bathroom as paying customers while we waited.
I approached the woman handling orders twice. The first time was to check on my order after about 15 minutes. Typically, a bagel shop cranks out your order in about 10-15 minutes - not super weird to hope for. The second time I asked, I noticed others who ordered after me had gotten their orders and left maybe about 20-25 minutes of wait time. She said it was "coming right out" though I don't believe I saw that she actually checked. After another 10 minutes, I went into the cashier for assistance because I was now late to my meeting down the street. It was now almost 35 minutes for my two bagels. The cashier was able to check on the actual prep line and got my sandwich out in about another 5 minutes.
I definitely think there was a mix up and I wish the woman at the window took my concern a bit more seriously because 40 minutes for a plain bagel and a bagel sandwich is not okay. We didn't have a good experience and no one seemed to care or take my concern seriously. Because we were late for our meeting we could not eat until an hour and half later which meant that the sandwiches were cold and stale. I will not be back to this location but I will continue to visit O'bagel in Stirling because I really enjoy their good service and...
