I try to avoid chains as I don't think the quality of food and service is as good as a one off local restaurant. My husband LOVES cracker barrel as it's one of the few local places he can get fried catfish. We were seated promptly and the table still had spots of food residue I wiped off with my hand. We waited about fifteen minutes for a server to ask us for our drink order. She was pretty busy with about four other tables. My husband ordered the fried catfish and I ordered the tips, shrimp and tenders combo with a salad and baked potato. We also ordered the cheese curds to share. The salad came first and is the thing I like most about cracker barrel. It was good. When the main food came, no dishes were removed and the table was getting pretty cluttered. I stuck a fork into one of the tips and it shot across the floor because it was dry. In addition the rest of the tips were in one connected mass. Almost like when. I buy meat prepackaged in the grocery store and flip it into the frying pan but never break it up. Once I could get one to stay on the fork, it was ok. It was very very salty and I like things pretty salted. The shrimp were small popcorn shrimp served in a condiment dish. Unfortunately mine had two popcorn shrimp and a few hush puppies I did not order so I missed out. The shrimp were pretty tasty! The chicken tenders had no dipping sauce so I used the ranch from the cheese curd dish (still on our table thank goodness) and couldn't eat them they were so dry. The chicken tenders were like jerky. The baked potato was ok. My husband's catfish was not cooked all the way in the larger piece so he had to stop eating it. The server was gone for long periods of time making it near impossible to get help regarding these issues. She did check in once and when I asked for a drink refill for my husband she brought back two drink refills (my cup was already very full and my meal complete) and a bunch of napkins and put them on the table. It felt like she was trying to put anything she could think we'd need on the table so she didn't have to come back. We waited another 20 min before the check was brought to us. Not an outstanding experience and we were not given an opportunity to correct anything that went wrong due to the time between visits from the server. We did however get a good laugh when the steak tip shot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here 8/26 for breakfast with my friend. Our waitress was really nice, super detail-oriented, and very frequent about checking in on us. Everything was great until checkout. Ordered a to-go order for my boyfriend and went to pay. I paid with my card, and put a $3 tip on the to-go order due to great service from our waitress. Somehow, the cashier charged me $44.59. Even though I wrote the total, $15.59, at the bottom of the receipt in the total space, she put in that I gave a $30 tip. I called Friday (8/28) and am hoping to be get the money back into my account tomorrow. Both the first employee I talked to on the phone and the manager I spoke to were very friendly, professional and apologetic. Be wary of leaving a card tip. Tip in cash if youāre able to so you can avoid going through anything like this. Be sure to cross out the tip section of the receipt if you leave a cash tip as well. I know Iām not the only person this has happened to at this location.
Update: A week and a half has gone by since this āmistake,ā and still no refund. I went in Tuesday (9/1) to speak to a manager. I spoke with Tabitha who told me that corporate had not gotten back to her about this situation yet. She told me that she emailed them again and that she would call me when they get back to her. I have not heard anything since. I would expect that they wouldāve handled this situation much better due to the pandemic. I am very frustrated and upset at this point. I do not recommend this Cracker Barrel anymore.
Update 2: Today (9/5), I finally got the money refunded to me. Although I was promised a call once they heard back from corporate, I did not get one. Iām grateful for the money back, but the process of getting it was very difficult and confusing. The managers I spoke to on both occasions were friendly; I feel as though the company couldāve handled this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn Lima, OH, it was the worse Cracker Barrel l have EVER visited. Took a while for them to find us a seat (even though there seemed to be a lot of open tables - even though there was 5 of us),once seated it took 20 minutes (if not more) for someone to take our drink order by a trainee by herself (while we watched other people at other tables that came in and was seated after us get not only there drink orders taken but later on had their food orders taken while we set there with not even being asked about a drink order), when the drink orders finally came there wasn't much liquid of each drink ordered in the glass and hardly any ice whatsoever in the glasses, l ordered vegetable soup - they had nothing and l had to order something completely different and got sub-par chicken strips, one person got chicken and dumplins that had grilled chicken in it instead of chicken chunks (and the person that ate it said it was the worse chicken and dumplins he EVER had, then on the checks we got the drinks were messed up to where the wrong drinks were on the wrong checks, lastly it took about 20 minutes to pay our bills because there was about 15 people in line and at first only one register was open - then the second one opened finally (third one never did open) but it seemed we waited forever to pay our bill. HORRIBLE Cracker Barrel that l will NEVER, EVER go back to, especially with all the other...
