This place really surprised me. When they say that, it is an Indian chipotle. They’re really mean it. I tried the vegetarian bowl with paneer as my protein, and it was outstanding. I tried the masala rice and then got all the toppings on it. A bit of everything lentil kidney beans, garbanzo, and then top that off with all the fixings and toppings that they have. The sauces are outstanding and I even added a side of papad with what I got. This bowl is definitely can be shared by two people easily, and if it’s one person, getting it. It will make up for two meals. Without a doubt. I also loved the special touch with The dried green chili thingies that they put on the top. Oh my gosh, those were outstanding and super super super hot. So caution. If you’re trying Those. Our server was Sandy and The. A huge shout out to her as she was super patient. This restaurant is also connected to the one next-door, which is called the Indian Chick-fil-A and she was managing boat and holding the fort down like a boss. She made the entire experience, even more outstanding with her recommendations and outstanding customer service. I think I have found a new go to in the Houston...
Read moreAbsolutely Pathetic Experience – Would Give Zero Stars If Possible. My experience was so bad that I felt compelled to warn others. We ordered a vegetarian bowl that came with plain rice, dal, and gobi aloo bhaji – nothing special, just basic home-style food being passed off as something fancy. And for what? A ridiculous price of $27 for just one bowl, one tiny samosa ($2.50!), and a single dip they charged $2.65 for. Totally outrageous. To make matters worse, the food was clearly not fresh. It tasted average at best on the day we got it, so we put the leftovers in the fridge. When we tried to eat it the very next day, the food had already gone stale, which tells me it was already old when they served it to us. Freshly made food does not spoil overnight in the fridge. This place is clearly serving days-old food at absurd prices. There is no value, no freshness, and definitely no care in what they’re offering. Avoid at all costs – it’s not worth your money, your time, or...
Read moreWe were so excited to try out bol! Considering that it is a Chipotle-inspired restaurant, we were thrilled. However, when we got our food, it was underwhelming. The spices were all blended in and didn't feel like a true Indian experience. It was very "whitewashed." I didn't feel any authenticity in the food at all. I understand that they're trying to cater to an audience that's broader. However, you should at least keep your culture in mind.
I would not complain about the price of it if it was good however paying $16-$18 for a bowl that was mediocre felt like a rip-off. Why is a mango lassi $9? My mom can make better Paneer than this place. I hope you guys work on your menu and I hope you guys understand true Indian cuisine. There was only one person working at the cashier, and I felt truly bad that they were busy when we needed something. It is not their fault but they need to staff up!
Overall, it was a very disappointing experience and I would...
