Barbarella will always be the dance club where you could have a great time to dance the night away without a care. There's always all types of crowd coming to here because there's only so many big dance clubs in Houston where the drink is decent price, the light, the sound, and it's moderately air conditioned building that all feels just right. If you get in before 12AM, there will be no door charge!
Normally the Saturday night is 80s night so if you feel like some great 80s dancing time, you should make Saturday a Barbarella night. Then there's also New Noise night and sometimes theme nights on other days. The club is spacious as there's an elevated floor for people to dance on. However, you have to be careful because sometimes the floor may be wet due to people spilling drinks and it makes it very slippery especially you're wearing a less traction shoes.
There's also an outside patio where people can get some fresh air and a great view of the Houston skyline. You can always walk back inside as long as you got the black light stamp on your arm. As for water to quench your thirst, there's usually two big water dispensers near the back of the bar for you to self-serve. In the back is also a photo booth and a few lounge chairs along the side to sit down.
If you come on other nights there will be different themes so it depends on your mood of dancing but over all I never had a bad time at Barbarella. Parking is always tricky in that part of town but as long as you see street parking that everyone else is parked there, you should be safe to park there as well. I would certainly recommend anyone who wants to dance all night long should go here first or last, depends how...
Read moreMy friend just turned 21 so we went there to celebrate birthday. The club’s website said there no entry fee before 10:30, but they still charged us. While my friend n I were having drinks, I lay my head on the lap (I like doing that). A security guard thought I was drunk and insisted I leave. I told him I wasn’t, but we still went out to save trouble. I felt cold w my little dress n want go back in, the security said we were permanently banned.
I was completely sober—I could’ve solved math problems. As an international student, Idk TX businesses could refuse service for no reason, so I argued with the guard. Instead of explaining, he started dragging me toward the street. I grabbed his sleeve, asking for a reasonable explanation, but he became impatient and used pepper spray on me. It was unbearable—I was rolling on the ground in pain, begging for ice, but none of the staff helped. My friend took me back to campus, and emergency services spent an hour helping me open my eyes. (I had surgery on my eyes before, idk if there’s more potential harm rn) The spray spread across my body, causing a burning sensation that lasted a whole day. Even my roommate was mildly affected, and I feel so guilty about that.
I’ve never been so angry. I was just trying to reason with the guard, and the most physical contact I had was holding his sleeve. I’m a petite, newly arrived student, while the guard was a strong man. I posed no threat to him, yet he chose to use pepper spray. In my country, such force is only used on criminals. I feel he shamed the image of this...
Read moreI've been going to this place for 4 years and not once have I had an incident until tonight. Me, my girlfriend and her friends decided to go to 90s night and everything was going fine until I stepped out to walk her to her car. I walked up to the bouncer who checked my arm for the stamp and let me go in and before I could reach the door; one of the bouncers tells me that I'm banned and I cant go back anymore. I ask him why and he tells me that me and some "friends" of mine were being rude and disrespectful to a bouncer and threw a beer can at him. I tell the guy i was nowhere near barbarella last Saturday. Not one of those bouncers were there that night and refuse to call one of their employees so I call my girlfriend and she tells them we were not there that night. He refuses to back and tell me that me and the guy were a black shirt and that we looked alike. I was racial profiled and refused entry inside. I don't know his name but hes an Asian guy who has blonde highlights and tattoos on his left arm and wears glasses. I've always sung the praises of this place to EVERYBODY and now they treat me like this because YOU assume I'm the guy because we look alike. I hope to get ahold of the manager or owner to tell them this because I was racial profiled and wrongfully accused of something I did...
