Hands down WORST Thanksgiving meal that I've ever had at a restaurant that considers itself a cut above. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I visited the Del Frisco's in New York and that was like a different universe entirely.
The hostesses did not greet us, did not direct anything and had scowls on their faces. What is wrong with this picture?? I feel like I walked into a Chili's.. Management is clearly lacking - training is clearly not implemented - the lack of preparation to host any patrons for Thanksgiving was horrendous.
There was no exclusivity here, the place was crowded and chaotic - we reserved a private room and given the impression it was a nice room.. but for all intents and purposes, it was no better than a storage closet. Throughout the night random servers or managers kept coming in and out, grabbing things from a closet located right in our room.. is this how special occasions are treated??
The room was not only plain, with no sort of decoration or planning given to a special occasion like Thanksgiving, but it was not ready even 30 minutes AFTER the reservation was set for.. they were still pulling out stored keyboards, stacks of chairs.. there wasn't even enough room for the waiter to go around the entire table because the width of the room was so small...
That's right, we had ONE waiter for a table of 10... what was the point of reserving a room for a large party if we had no dedicated service??
What was the point of and I quote "an event coordinator" or "event manager"? ...which seems a very high zut title for someone that doesn't pick up a phone to stay in touch but just emails links and esign docs & confirms payment is processed. She was as much a coordinator as she was just a cashier through an email.. the room was not prepared, the room was a monotonous gray, and as quaint as it could be - this is not what we signed up for.. Nothing about this "event" was "managed."
Not only that... the food on both regular & Thanksgiving menu WAS NOT EVEN AVAILABLE.. We order wine - the guy literally got the wrong wine 3x and ended up not having even ONE of the wines we actually wanted after choosing 3 different kinds.. so we were forced to improvise that as well - same with dessert wine. I am in disbelief that a restaurant that prides itself on a diverse and massive wine collection did not have even one excellent wine we chose.. Though they had Veuve Cliquot.. Naturally, running 4x the price we normally purchase it for. My family is well acquainted with a strong taste for very good wines, champagnes - such an overwhelming disappointment... did the servers even know where to find the wine??
There was not enough staff to clean the table, take the orders, make sure we were satisfied, refill our drinks (we did this ourselves), etc... and as nice as our waiter was, he kept referring to my 91 year old father as "my friend." This is inappropriate in a formal setting, period. Waiters in high class restaurants should have a much higher caliber of interaction with their patrons. For shame.
They literally forgot to check in on us about 3x - forgot to even offer dessert - forgot my dessert wine - forgot our coffees and espressos.. we were left to our own devices.
I had to get up and speak to a manager at least 3x just to get extra help at the table... and returned to my table at the end of the night (after again talking to a manager) looking at a totally wrong dessert wine that was meant to replace my sweet dessert wine... but was nowhere close. They were out of my choice and couldn't even provide an adequate comparative alternative - they also did not mention a word that they had given me a "different" wine until I brought it up...
Hands down, the very WORST experience I have EVER had in a restaurant like this and having known their NY sister restaurant, this restaurant is exposed at full shame..
My family was extremely disappointed.. Forget this place for special occasions - they don't care about you and they will remind you of it throughout the night. DO...

I’d like to offer my thoughts on the current state of Del Frisco’s under Aaron’s management. Aaron truly understands how to treat his clients and the elegance of fine dining. Today was a great reminder of the quality of this steakhouse! I thank you Aaron for guiding your team to rectify our issues and going above and beyond to show us how important our experience was to you! With his leadership, he will lead Del Frisco to the top of the industry! Yum, yum, yay!
This is gonna be a long one and I hope that I can delete once resolved. Del Frisco manager, I need your attention. Last year, on August 23rd 2023, my husband and I had an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! So much so that we made sure to come back for restaurant week again! We even invited family this year!! This year, August 7th 2024 is where the terror began. After making reservations, we arrive to the restaurant and the seating was not that ideal. Despite informing them of our party size and necessary accommodations, we were seated at an almost bar like area. After kindly moving our seats, the servers took a ridiculous amount of time to get back to us for orders. Upon arrival, the server behaved like a Waffle House employee! He took a dessert that he accidentally gave to my niece away! The food was barely hot upon arrival! And the service was slow! He was far too casual and informal for a “fine dining” restaurant. He even thought it comfortable enough to touch me on the shoulder. I couldn’t take it anymore! I was embarrassed for even suggesting this place! It was unbearably gross and despite not wanting to cause any trouble, I HAD TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER! He was apologetical yet ineffective in his approach to solve the problem. Rather than addressing the table with appropriate, constructive solutions, he tells me that I’ll get a call tomorrow from another manager. “Surely!” I think to myself. “A fine dining establishment like this will definitely rectify this situation with grace, respect and dignity!” “SIKE!” Days go by and I hear nothing for them. Out of respect for the restaurant’s reputation, I even called them to remind them that I was to be contacted by management to discuss our terrible experience! Now, I’ve been forced to go public. The hostess assured me someone would called me back! AGAIN, I hear NOTHING FROM YOU ALL and today is SEPTEMBER 18th! I am beyond disappointed and disgusted by the lack of support from management, ethics and communication from a restaurant I share with many others! To put it short: DON’T expect a fine dining experience at this establishment anymore. Do better guys. P.S- this was all triggered as I was scrolling through my camera role and found this picture of us from 2023 at Del Frisco’s!!! Shame,...
Read moreUPDATE* Management invited us back and we were treated very well. The service was impeccable, like I know it can be and the food was exquisite like always.**
I've struggled with writing this review for 4 days now but have finally made my decision. My girlfriend, her daughter and I, made reservations on Sunday night at 8pm. We wanted a late, intimate dinner with a smaller room. Unfortunately, I have to mention her race and her daughters' race up front, because it seemed to be an issue. My girlfriend in African American and so is her 20-year-old daughter; I am a Caucasian male. I have patronized this location on several occasions since moving from DFW, but more so at dozens and dozens of occasions at the Plano locations. This was my girlfriend and daughter's first time here. I recommended this place to both of them and bragged of their high quality and service, so upon this, they agreed to come.
We get greeted at the hostess station and I request an upstairs booth. Upon being seated, we are presented menus and no water. After waiting a good 15 minutes with no one else coming with our water or to greet us, we patiently sat quiet and talked. Another 5 minutes goes by, and I have to find a bus boy to find a Matre de and request him at our table. We get an apology and 2 free appetizers.
Our server is a young female. I order a sample of wine and then order the bottle. She never returns with the bottle. No water in our glasses at this time either. The bus boys, water boys and servers are staying clear of our table at this time it seems. Our orders aren't taken and we're still patiently waiting, sitting there quietly, just talking, all the while I'm embarrassed for bringing my guests. At this time, my girlfriend has no drink in front of her other than water; she wants a glass of wine, but the server failed to take her order. The Matre de comes back to the table and he replaces our server with a young, male server and he took good care of us for the rest of the night.
Prior to eating, I had to begun to profusely apologize to my girlfriend and her daughter about the service here. Employees weren't acknowledging us while walking by. Both my guests felt this was clear racism by the staff at Del Frisco's. I was of course in complete denial, as I've never experienced anything like this before at any of the 3 location I've ever been to. But after thinking about it, there is no other explanation for this bad treatment by staff. It was a very hostile environment and even after being a long-time customer of 10 plus years, that was my last time stepping foot in this establishment. I am sorry to say that I'll never recommend this place to...
