This was a place I would tell friend and family but never again will I support this business. Here is why? I went Sat, ordered, Asian girl says, I will bring to ur car… I should have known she was nice for a reason. It came, looked inside box to find food that u can tell was refried from earlier. onion rings very dark, so were fries. I go in to speak to Manager, whom I thought had professional integrity. He tried to make me believe the food was freshly cooked. I’m sorry, I’ve been in food service 40 yrs and I know exactly what they tried to pass off to me. His Asian cooks joined him in his lies and not one of these people would admit they did the wrong thing. The Manger was so caught up in his personal feelings that he forgot I’m the paying customer. I did not raise my voice but spoke firmly on an issue that needed to be addressed. I will never go again mainly because The Manger has a very hostile attitude.
These people has proven again that they do not understand professional integrity. Some lady with a n Asian accent called my home to say, she did not like me leave un unfavorable Rewiew. I think she again behaved inappropriately. She should have been calling to apologize for trying to blow smoke up my behind in her food not being prepared properly. You don’t need to worry. Houston has thousand of Restaurants and yours is no longer in my list because u people have no Integrity and you can’t stand it when people express how they feel and that’s a problem.. This is shocking, this Asian Lady from this Fish Market calls my home to tell me off for leaving what she feels it a bad review. Who does that? Are they going out of business or what? If anything she should have been calling to apologize for having such an Hostile Manager. Beware Public!!!! Something is wrong with these people to call my home because they don’t like the Review. If she calls again I’m going to sue for Harassment. Yelp is for reviews and because u got a unsatisfactory one be grown and accept and change your...
Read moreSo todays lunch was seafood. I wanted to try this spot that my brother told me about.
It's a small shop that sells fried seafood and they also sell fish and shrimp to take home to fry or cook on your own. I was greeted as I walked in the door. I ordered 1 catfish and 12 shrimp. There was no combo for it so I ordered the dozen shrimp combo and added a piece of catfish. It comes with two sides, I got fries and an egg roll. What I did like was the holes they put in the to-go box so that the steam would not make my food soggy on the way home. First bite into the catfish I noticed that it was not catfish, I believe it was swai catfish (a type of catfish) and I don't care for for swai at all. The food was fried to perfection especially the shrimp. The crunch was like crispy fried chicken. The batter was seasoned as well. The shrimp was so good. When I have a taste for some good ol' fried fish I will be going here and it was not expensive at all.
If you want good fried shrimp go here. If you don't mind eating swai catfish then you may like beachside it was definitely seasoned well...

We were regular customers since late 80s until the pandemic. The older gentleman always recognized us. Nice as can be. He'd put an onion ring on the fried catfish sandwich which was a nice touch.
So happy to see Fountainview Fish Market has added the fried catfish sandwich back on the menu.
It is the absolute best fried catfish sandwich ANYWHERE with incredible french fries.
Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Cooked to order and well worth the wait.
Clay and his staff do it right. Great fried fish, shrimp, egg rolls, fries.
Wonderful, tiny place for lunch that is clean, spartan and cramped, which surprisingly adds to the understated charm of this old, iconic Houston eatery.
No frills, pomp or razzle dazzle.
Just great seafood done right.
Extremely casual -- like Jimmy Buffett casual.
Older Houstonians fondly know this place.Younger folks are discovering it. Great to see Fountainview Fish Market bridging the gap between...
