what can i say, the 'za was good!

came in with my aunt, and we were greeted by an employee. took our orders quickly and correctly. the pizzas are displayed in a sort of 'pizza buffet', with a glass separating us... and the pizza.

we both ordered 2 slices (for each of us) of the "everything on it" pizza... (the name eludes me at the moment, sorry!) and we ordered jarritos brand soda. the employee who opened them for us might've been a trainee, because when he opened it, the bottlecap flew onto the counter. but he opened it, and that's what matters.

paper plates. you grab your own napkins, pepper flakes, straws, toothpicks, etc.

you seat yourself, and there are several options. a table, the wall, and looking out onto the sidewalk. the seats near the front door are all tall, so watch out. we chose a table near the door, so the chairs were high. so if you're short, or can't get up easily... maybe bring a ladder? (jokes aside, maybe ask for help... seriously.)

the ones farther back are all regular chairs and tables.

the t.v was playing family guy, and i watched as a couple sat by the window talking. the atmosphere was nice, and the vibes were quite homely!

the pizza slice was pretty big, so that was cool. big 'ol fat slice, too. tip: ask for another plate if you're ordering 2, it might not be enough for just one!

fresh flavor, didn't taste stale. not hot-out-the-oven - probably because it was already pretty late when we got there - but hot enough!

(this doesn’t have anything specific to do with the restaurant, but i got complimented on my shirt here!)

overall, great place! selfishly, i wish the employees were a bit nicer, but maybe that's just the old lady in me. it had an old style vibe to it, and i loved it. despite being so close to downtown, it was a calm environment, and the people were...

For my wing lovers: This place is a hidden gem with their extra crispy chicken wings. THEY ARE SOOOOO GOOD. Idk about yall but I’m the kind of person who LOVES their wings CRISPY, but JUICY on the inside. I have a weird ick about undercooked chicken but this place hits the mark!!! The wings are the perfect size, not huge like the kind that makes you question what they had to inject into it to make it that big, killing your appetite. Nor tiny like Domino’s pruny, watery, nasty half cooked stuff. They’re better than wings you would ask for extra crispy at B-Dubs just for them to come out dry and brittle. Nope. These wings are LEGIT, they’re “plain” but so flavorful, crispy, perfectly cooked. Ranch could step it up just a slight bit but it’s still very good. On a slow night it might take them about 20 minutes to make them, busy night, way more—but so totally worth it! 10/10 recommend and yes the pizza is good!!! The reviews I see nitpicking the pizza ignore them—guarantee they’ve got the palette of a chain smoker acting like as if they’re the food critics from Ratatouille. The pizza is good, period. Also, thank you Frank’s Pizza for not being one of those weird hipster downtown food shops with their tiny portions and ridiculous prices. My family of 6 can come and have a fun night in downtown and enjoy a nice warm meal from you all without breaking the bank! Our family...

Well I was on my first trip to Houston and I had to try some Texas pizza. I am a pizza lover and I have had it all over the U.S. and even on cruise ships. Anyway, this is my opinion. Frank's is on Travis Street in downtown Houston. When one walks in the door, it looks like it could be a restaurant in NYC. I was hopeful with this. In addition, they actually sell slices. This has been pretty uncommon outside the northeastern U.S. I actually ordered a whole small pepperoni, sausage and fresh mushroom pizza. It is smelled and looked good. Unfortunately, it was just all right. The sauce lacked the right spices and flavor. The crust was decent but not great. There was more than adequate toppings though. Considering that this was post-pandemic and with economic inflation, it was reasonably priced. As I said above, I am a pizza lover and connoisseur, who prefers wood-fired oven or coal-fired oven pizza(a NYC thing but also found at a few other places in the Northeast U.S). Additionally, I have to say that I lived in New Haven Connecticut for four years and to this day, stop in New Haven every time I pass by, just to get pizza.
