Been coming for years and not bc of the good food. The food is neither good nor does it resemble Italian (I’m Italian). we come for decent drinks and a outdoor ambiance.
Last nt we had 6 adults age 40+ for a bday celebration and they billed us like we ordered drinks in a Moscow strip club (given the amount of prostitution there, it might be).
We had a French oenologue with us but were recommended a (unknown to us) $700 bottle of average Italian wine that would cost maybe $35 in store, and recommended a “market priced” what turned out to be 104$ plate of “truffle pasta” which was likely truffle oil. Price also unknown at the time.
Before that bill came the waiter AGGRESSIVELY tried to sell us another bottle when we all had wine left in our glass. Note we were never told the price of this random wine we had you’d have never let personals chosen - and that would have cost $1400.
Waiters don’t recommend $700 bottles of wine without disclosing price first, in normal American restaurants. They truly shook us down mafia style, and we had to fight some nasty mafioso waiters to reduce the total of $1400 bill. We stayed one hour 45 min total. They destroyed the experience.
The food here is already drastically overpriced for quality yet we come to this restaurant for the outdoor patio and nice ambiance. However it’s always very aggressive and it’s clear they always want you to pay for more stuff or leave immediately. It’s their MO. We will never go back to this restaurant. We didn’t eat that much bc we are all thin and can only have one plate max and one appetizer.
Enjoy your Moscow to Monaco style prostitution ring and your insane prices for actual garbage pasta. I’ve had them all and they aren’t Italian. Ruined a birthday party and lost all 13 customers we have brought to this restaurant over the year. Never again Tommy. You do not treat repeat clients who bring new clients,...
Read moreI recently had the most unfortunate experience dining at the Bari restaurant in Houston, and I must say, it was absolutely horrible. From start to finish, everything seemed to go wrong, and the lack of professionalism displayed by the wait staff was truly disappointing.
One of the main issues I encountered was the incompetence of the waiters when it came to clearing the tables. On not one, but two occasions, a waiter managed to accidentally knock my head with plates while removing items from the table. The apology I received in both instances was feeble and half-hearted, as if the waiter couldn't be bothered to take responsibility for their actions. This lack of attention and care was a clear indication of the poor service provided at Bari.
To make matters worse, towards the end of our meal, another waiter attempted to clear our table and ended up knocking over my sister's water and hot tea. The beverages spilled all over her, causing not only a great inconvenience but also creating a potentially dangerous situation. What astonished me even more was the negligent response of the manager, who nonchalantly approached our table, asking if my sister was okay without offering a sincere apology or making any effort to ensure our well-being.
Overall, my experience at Barri was beyond disappointing. The inability of the waiters to perform basic table-clearing tasks without causing harm is simply unacceptable. It is equally disheartening to witness a lackadaisical response from the manager, who failed to address the situation adequately. I would strongly advise others to think twice before considering dining at Barri, as the poor service and utter disregard for customer satisfaction left a lasting...

We’ve dined at several Italian restaurants across the city, but this one truly stands out—not just for the food, but for the ambiance. It has a warm, romantic atmosphere that made our special occasion feel even more meaningful.
The Italian cuisine was delicious, though the portions are on the smaller side, especially considering the elevated price point. That said, the gnocchi was one of my favorites—pillowy and full of flavor. I just wish there had been a bit more of it.
Service was exceptional. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive, answering our menu questions with ease. We even had the chance to speak with the manager—not to report a problem, but simply to compliment the team on the wonderful service and overall experience. As a thoughtful gesture for our celebration, we were presented with two complimentary desserts, which was such a nice surprise.
The restaurant offers outdoor seating near a green space, which is a great perk for families with small children—you can dine comfortably while keeping an eye on them. Kids’ meals are available, though they are a bit pricey.
Wine lovers will appreciate their extensive wine list—I sampled a few before selecting a bottle, and the staff was patient and helpful throughout.
Final thoughts: For convenience, I recommend using valet parking, especially on busier nights. And definitely make a reservation—this place is popular for a reason. We’ll...
