Padre’s is a wine shop, bar, and restaurant all in one located in the Heights.
The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice—great for an intimate date night or dinner with close friends. The inside has limited seating, but there is also outdoor seating, as well.
We went during brunch for the first time. The brunch menu only had a few options and was very limited, and we were inquired about the oysters that they had for dinner. The service was great! The server and kitchen were kind enough to provide us with oysters despite it not being on the lunch menu.
The oysters came on a plate of ice and was fresh at an amazing price of $2 each with pipettes of jabanero sauce. We also got the mimosa and steak frites. I enjoyed the mimosa, as it had a great balance of blood orange to prosecco. The steak was on the thicker side and came out more raw than we expected. Although the outside had a nice char, the inside was very raw. Usually we get medium rare, but I felt like a vampire chewing on a raw slab of meat. The steak was seasoned, though, and paired well with the sauce provided.
Because we are in the Heights, parking is limited, but they do have an area designated for the location on the sides and parallel parking in front and across the street.
Overall, I like the ambiance of the place and would visit for the mimosas and...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place as I live within walking distance and the concept seemed really great. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed from the moment we walked in. We stood at the front for a minute or two and someone finally came up and greeted us, but only to ask how we were and then blankly stare at us. We realized it’s probably a seat your self situation, but some indication of that would be helpful. We found a table inside and then someone brought a menu over and said if they didn’t come back in time, order at the bar. Totally fine. We ended up moving to the bar when a spot opened up and ordered some wine. It’s usually standard to also offer water, but that didn’t happen. We asked for the food menu and ordered and it came out quickly, but had to call someone over for utensils. Also fine, maybe they forgot. But then they sat the utensils on the bar with no napkin. We had to ask another person for that. Maybe it’s because they just opened, but it felt like most of the staff had no hospitality experience. We paid $93 for four glasses of wine and two small apps, this included the tip. This is standard pricing, but the service was very subpar. As my friend put it, “almost $100 and we had to ask for everything except the wine menu.” I hope it...
Read moreWOW! This place is fantastic! From the ambiance, to the selection, to the staff everything is so nice! I was shocked by the huge (400ish) selection of bottles from all around the world. I was incredibly pleased when the staff approached me to chat with me about the selection and guide me to bottles that best fit my taste profile. When we push past the shop into the lounge/bar section, I was showered with natural wine coming in from the beautiful windows. We inevitably found a nice spot in the shade in the gigantic wine garden in the back. I had the Syrah and it was incredibly velvety and delicious. My friend had the pais and would not stop raving about how juicy and refreshing it was. We shared a few food items and enjoyed all of them as well! I especially loved the jalapeño cheese bread. All in all from beginning to end I was impressed by this place and I am so happy it has become a part of the...
