Just always a fun experience, but this one went above and beyond.
It was my wife’s birthday celebration, and we had been to dinner at Pappas Brothers, where she accidentally left her phone (this part is relevant I promise). We live about 3 miles away, so we decided to return to get the phone. Since we were out, we decided to go to The Capital Grille for a late-night drink because we love the ambiance. We did not do dinner here because we were with a party earlier which agreed on a different venue for dinner.
It was a Friday night, and we walked in around 9:50pm. My assumption was that they closed at 11pm, and having previously worked in the service sector, I know coming in last minute is frustrating. Chris was the bartender of the night, and of all time in my book. We walked in and a patron was having a picture taken of himself and Chris – and that just set the tone! Chris walked over to ask how we were and to get us anything, which we ordered drinks, a birthday desert and a small appetizer. After ordering, I realized that the restaurant was becoming empty, so I decided to ask at which time they closed. Chris told me 10pm but to not worry about it.
We had the most amazing experience, drinks, and just good time at the hands of Chris and the ambiance of The Capital Grille. Such a lovely night cap and perhaps some regret that we did not have dinner there, but in the same breath we wouldn’t have been seat in the bar area to meet Chris!
Thanks so much Chris! We will...
Read moreMy daughter and I had reservations for the afternoon Mother’s Day brunch. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server came over in a timely manner and took our drink orders. We were given the “dinner” menu, although it was 1:00a.m. I didn’t mind,as I was wanted to see all the selections available. However, our server NEVER even mentioned the “chef’s specials, nor the Mothers Day brunch menu items” they were serving. He abruptly took our order & hurried off to his other tables . I only knew of the brunch menu, because I had looked at the options when I made reservations. I also overheard another very nice attentive server explaining it at another table beside us. I was baffled as to why he failed to notify us of the other options. I didn’t make a big deal about it because my daughter and I wanted Steak anyways but it would’ve been nice to know if there were other things we may have wanted to order. Also, they were giving out roses to all the mothers which I thought was absolutely adorable. My server, however brought my check and was about to send us on our way until u had to ASK for a Flower. How sad. The food was tasty, bread options were great, drinks were small ,and service was very subpar. Not to mention,we ordered sides, which are shareable. And we had to serve them to ourselves. Not sure if that’s standard Capital Grille service,as this is my first time at this particular location, but unfortunately, can’t say that...
Read moreOMG... This place is fantastic! My gf and myself visited last Saturday night to have dinner together. The venue itself is marvelously decorated and the waiting staff is very nice and knowledgeable when it comes to the menu and wine pairings. I have the PORCINI RUBBED BONE-IN RIBEYE WITH 15-YEAR AGED BALSAMIC and my gf had the CHILEAN SEA BASS WITH MUSHROOM SOY BROTH and both very fantastic! I mean incredible! I had no idea Sea Bass could taste so good! it was so soft and delicate and full of flavor with every bite. But if you want to talk about show stopping, it doesn't get any better than the Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye. Let me tell you something. I love eating steak and have tried many different steak at high dining establishments all over Houston and this was by far the best bone in ribeye I'v ever eaten! Soft, succulent, tender, busting with flavor and the perfectly melted Gorgonzola on top of the rib-eye took my breath away. I was making love to this steak! But the absolute best dish of the evening and most certainly bring me back, was the Lobster Mac and Cheese!!! I eff'ing love mac and cheese and this brought tears to my eyes, it was so good! Please, you have to try this lobster Mac and Cheese if you are visiting Capital Grille. Or just pop in for the Lobster Mac and Cheese and take it home with you one day....
