Visited her on a Saturday night very recently, here's my personal experience. TLDR: Mostly really good food, staff is hit or miss, overpriced. Would return if desperate for all you can eat steak.
Full Review: Was told 45m to an hour wait time, which I totally understand why hosts are told to say that, but let's be more transparent, I was texted within 10 minutes. I'd rather not be weeded out by a lie.
We were newcomers to the restuarant and our server did a good job at explaining how everything worked, but we hardly seen her the rest of the night. The salad bar looked interesting, but desperately needed to be restocked. They had shrimp on the salad bar as well, but they could atleast remove the tails and the poop shoot if you intend for me to put it in a salad, or eat it at all, thanks. That being said, the items I did try at the salad bar, apart from the usual were really good. The Lobster bisque especially was stunning.
Id also like to mention that our specific table, probably just shouldn't have existed. It was directly outside of the kitchen, with 2 of the chairs halfway onto the salad bar flooring, and almost directly touching a bar that servers tend to. When I was looking around, all of the other tables seemed to make sense, but ours forced servers to get very intimate to do their jobs, and kitchen staff to awkwardly maneuver around the odd placement of the table, since you could only access the sides.
The meat, as you could guess is the main reason this review is still roughly positive. Lots of different cuts, most of it really good, some of it to die for, occasionally a severely bland cut. It doesn't seem to matter if it was the same cut you enjoyed 15 minutes before, this one was just seasoned by someone else, so you rly never know what you're getting, but most of it was very good, however.
The kitchen staff were mostly friendly, one guy in particular seemed "too cool" to even have a job, had some face tattoos I believe and would stumble over, mumble something, and we'd say yes or no to what we assumed he had. One time I said, "No thanks, sir" And he simply said "Good." and walked off.
Our server during all of this had to be flagged down to approach our table. Our salad plates had remained there forever, our drinks were empty for a good 10 minutes before she finally came, during which she only refilled the waters and left my tea empty for another 20 minutes. Additional minutes, it was probably empty for genuinely 30 minutes at the least.
We were there for over 2 hours simply because our server was not present for us to order desert or get the check, which I felt was pretty ridiculous. Along with the fact that I mainly chose this place because they offered lamb, and even after asking many staff members about it, it wasn't brought to me until it was becoming apparent to them I wasn't leaving until they actually did their jobs. Totally unrelated side note, (definitely) The lamb here is not it.
It ended up causing a scenario where we had to keep telling the kitchen staff no to more food simply because we had saved room for desert, and lamb, and could not find this woman anywhere. During that we found that the whole "flip your insanely tiny and easily missed coaster sized sign to red to tell them no" just simply doesn't work.
Deserts were also surprisingly not included. For 50 dollars a person, I assumed i could get a slice of cake included, but that was indeed another 12 dollars for a SLICE.
So all in all, peculiar experience, highs and lows. Hopefully if I return to this place, I'll receive better service, and hopefully a cut I asked for in advance of an hour, but time will tell.
And as a clarifier, I've served, expo'd, cooked, for around 4 years, so when I say our server wasn't great, you should know it's from an experienced background. The last 20 minutes we were there, we were one of her only 2 tables, and we watched her chat at the host stand and even have an altercation with the female manager, so there was definitely...
Read moreThe food here is great, actually amazing would probably be a better word. The reason I'm giving this place one-star is because of the absolutely terrible service especially by the hostess. I don't know what here problem is. We generally go on the weekends during lunch. We are very good people and always treat the servers with respect. So it is extremely disheartening that for the last six (6) times I've gone here that the hostess just treats us like garbage.
There are two basic scenarios that take place when you go here. One is if you have reservations and the other if you don't have reservations.
NO RESERVATIONS Basically, we walk in, and the hostess, if she even acknowledges us (roughly 25%) rather than saying "Hello" or "Welcome to Texas de Brazil" as expected in a high class restaurant where you pay roughly $50 per person, will simply look at you and say "Last Name". That's right! Her way of greeting you is simply giving you a dirty look and saying "Last Name". After you give your last name, she'll ask you if you have reservations. If you say "No" she'll tell you she has no tables available for you. She won't tell you that you could sit at the bar. You have to ask her if you could sit at the bar. Yes, apparently it is your responsibility as a customer to ask if you may sit at the bar. So if you choose to sit at the bar, you will generally notice that there are a bunch of empty tables (again we normally go during lunch on the weekends when it is not that busy). When you question the management about all the empty tables, they will tell you that it is because they don't want to overwhelm the server staff. Strange considering all the servers generally do is fill your water and take away your plates.
WITH RESERVATIONS You walk in, the hostess will probably not acknowledge you or even greet you as in the situation above. When she finally decides to talk to you, she will say "Last Name". She will ask if you have reservations. When you say "Yes", she will tell you that you need to wait because there are other people ahead of you. That's right, she won't excuse herself that you need to wait. The entire time she won't say anything to us, no sorry for having to wait, no status on when we will be seated, nothing.
Last time we went with reservations, she had completely forgotten about us, even though were sitting a few feet away from her. After waiting the 20 or so minutes we decided to leave. As we were walking out, she made no attempt to ask if we were leaving, nor trying to say that it will only be a few minutes, nor try to excuse about the wait, nothing. She just looked at us with silence and complete indifference. She couldn't care less that customers decided to leave. She had our phone number, she could have had a manager contact us to see what happened, no nothing. Instead she just cancelled our reservation. When I called a few minutes later to speak with a manager to express my frustration, he didn't do anything to try and assist, he was actually defending the rudeness of this hostess. I'm sorry but her cold and indifferent behavior is just not acceptable in a posh restaurant such as yourself.
This problem had been going on for the last few weeks. I contacted Texas de Brazil customer care and notified them about my issue. They were very good in responding to us. They told me that that they contacted the management at the Huntsville location with my concerns and that they would reach out to us. This never happened. The management at Huntsville has completely ignored us for no reason. Notice how they didn't even respond to this detailed review but they respond every well to positive reviews. Why you don't bother addressing a valid customer concern.
After our bad experience here, the following week we took a trip up to Nashville the following week and our experience there was amazing. I definitely recommend the Nashville location over this place, the manager there really cares about...
Read moreWe arrived at the Huntsville location and were greeted and asked if we had a reservation. We were taken to a table. Our server came and briefly spoke to us. After that, we barely saw her the entire time. I had been here around Christmas time. And we sat around just waiting for the meat so long, that the visit was awkward and frustrating. I still had some gift cards left over, so I decided to use them for my anniversary today. After we sat down, we observed that the meats were still slow coming around to the tables, so we decided to skip the meats to avoid frustration and just ate from the salad bar. No one offered more bread, more bananas; no one asked if we were celebrating anything. We were barely spoken to the whole visit. The food was delicious. No complaints there. The lack of customer service for this price point is appalling. Part of the appeal of this place is supposed to be the fun atmosphere. It’s not there at all. At the end I ordered two desserts to go. They are just very basic desserts. Nothing special about them. I was SHOCKED at the $12-dollar per slice of cake sticker price. Not even the Cheesecake Factory charges that kind of price for one slice of dessert. I didn’t say anything and just paid. At the end I had $5 left on my gift card that I was leaving as part of the tip. The manager came back with it and said I could not give a tip on the gift card. I asked if he could just give us a dessert to finish off the card. He said unfortunately the desserts were $12. There was nothing he could do. So after I had already spent $24 on two pieces of cake, he couldn’t even give us a courtesy dessert. Nothing. He had zero customer service skills. This is most definitely not like a Brazilian steakhouse at all. It’s an overpriced place with bad customer service. There was a young couple sitting by us and they just sat there forever with no one coming to their table. They were looking at each other awkwardly. So I just told them that they could just go to the salad bar and get their food while they waited for the server. The poor kid was so confused. He thought that if he ate the salad bar, he’d be charged an extra 30 dollars on top of the regular $51.99. He told me he had been there before and always refused the salad bar because he thought it was extra. I told him it was all inclusive, salad bar and meats for the $52. It goes to show how much this place lacks customer service. The manager of this place always looks like he doesn’t want to be there. He doesn’t greet his customers with enthusiasm. It’s sad. I’m used to going to Brazilian steak houses. I’ve been to several others around the country and even to several in Brazil. Texas de Brazil leaves much to be desired. It is rare for me to feel like I must write a review. I usually write a review when a place is so amazing I can’t keep it to myself, or if the place is so bad, I just have to let people know. Unfortunately, this is the latter. Spend your money on a place where you will get service. I am done with my gift cards. I’m not...
