Plum Loco, commonly referred to as "Mi Casa" by myself and family. After visiting this establishment for more than 30 years the menu still is basically the same. "Mi Casa" was one of my first jobs when I was a youngster. I would say I know this place unequivocally more than most. New owners have kept mostly to the original menu, but have changed some of the staples for a less enjoyable meal. The Nachos, Macho Nacho and the regular are now made with really crunchy half-sized tostada shells. Old school and the best were made with their own chips.
I'd have to say, that the large corn tostada was far from as good as the original. Most basic food was equal, chips and salsa, delicious. Enchiladas great. But, my favorite thing on this planet, Mi Casa nachos, have took a hit because of productivity of the kitchen and service. Last visit I asked specifically for "old school" style, and got a close rendition, yet it was not correct. Old school was each Chip covered with beans and the fixings. Asked for that and got a tray full of beans, them chips, then beans and cheese and then the rest. I was stumped, and unimpressed. Sad day for an OG like myself.
Overall, the service is Top Notch, the young ladies that served us were amazing, not pressurizing you at all. Food was good as all get out. I'm still a customer and never won't be.
The new owners should note... Bring back the old school nachos, seriously. What a bummer. Curt was an amazing owner that cared, seems like this owner won't uphold the original and normal fare for Mi Casa.
Still, will never not visit when in town.
Servers: 10/10 Food: 4/10 for nachos, 9/10 for other food. Location and Nostalgia: 10/10
Keep it real, keep it awesome, don't change,...
Read moreThis was unfortunately one of the worst dining experiences that I have ever experienced. Not only did the meat taste remarkably dry and overcooked, but the service left much to be desired. They were obviously short staffed and incredibly crowded, so it is not necessarily the staffs fault for the poor service. What motivated me to write this review was the combination of poor service and mediocre food.
My partner had tried the recommended chimichanga and opted to have it with chicken. We immediately knew something wasn't right with the dish, and had the server come up to check on us we would have made that known. After a couple of bites, it was obvious that something was wrong with the dish and we were ready to request an alternative. It was to my surprise that once the server returned nearly 25 minutes later, they were unable to take the dish back because it had been touched. Because of this, they were also unable to take the dish off the bill.
Having worked in the service industry for about a decade, this is by far the worst policy that I have ever heard of. It is hard to imagine somebody returning a dish before they have even tasted it yet, so to have a policy in place that forces customers to pay for a meal that was practically untouched is ridiculous.
I highly suggest dining elsewhere so that you will not be forced to pay for an astonishingly unimpressive meal that you barely touched.
I will not be back again until this poor policy is remedied because it truly just is not...
Read moreI came here with my family over the weekend. I got the pancho villa plate. It’s essentially a marinated beef burrito with beans and rice, smothered with guacamole and sour cream. Guacamole had a dark color to it, it was probably prepared a while in advance, and was sitting out exposed to the air. You could taste the funk, so that was a little off-putting, especially since the addition of the guacamole typically makes a price of a meal higher. My wife got the conquistador, which is essentially a Colorado beef version of the Pancho Villa. Her guacamole was also discolored. The beef tasted great from both dishes. The little guy got french fries and he really liked them. We also got the fried ice cream. We ordered the fried ice cream for one, but we ended up getting the fried ice cream for two. When seated, you are provided with complementary chips and salsa. I would describe the Salsa as spicy pizza sauce, not quite my thing, but it is complementary after all. I noticed the menu mentioned the portions are generous, but I think they are average at best. Especially if you factor in the price. I really do enjoy the inside of Plum Loco. The tile floor is visually appealing to me and they seem to have lighting just right. The menu doesn’t have a lot of more authentic Mexican dishes, which is more of my preference. The place was fun to try, but overall not quite what I like. But give them a try and they may be the right...
