Cottonwood Grille âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž The Cottonwood Grille is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The food and service is always excellent, and they have one of the best patios in the entire Treasure Valley. MW and I visited on 4/15/21. I ordered Beef Stroganov ($23) - Tender morsels of beef slow cooked with onions and Cremini mushrooms in a rich sour cream sauce, served over fettuccine. This is a dish that is not always on the menu. I ordered it once years before and it was served with Elk instead of beef. Both times, it was the best beef stroganoff I have ever had. Itâs a generous portion that made two meals for me. Everything about this dish was perfection. There were generous portions of tender, well-seasoned meat. The noodles were perfectly cooked. There was just the right amount of sour cream. MW ordered North Atlantic Sea Scallops ($31) - Fresh sea scallops, panseared golden, served on braised spinach with cappellini pasta in a creamy Saffron sauce. This was a little bland until MW asked for more Saffron sauce, which made all the difference. Both entrĂ©es came with soup or salad. Soup options that day were Tomato Basil, French Onion or Red Bean Chorizo. The owner/chef is Basque so the latter is always on the menu. The salad options were Mixed Green or Wedge Caesar. We both chose the Mixed Green with house-made Blue Cheese dressing, which came with blue cheese crumbles in it. The salads were outstanding! The bread that was served with dinner was Basque bread that was made in the house. It was delicious. The Cottonwood Grille is one of the only restaurants in town that has a pastry chef. They had six desserts on the menu with three additional ones that were specials. By that time of the evening, we were both so focused on our conversation that I neglected to take photos until we had already partially demolished our desserts. I ordered the Mixed Berry Cobbler ($7). MW ordered the CrĂšme BrĂ»lĂ©e ($7.) Both were among the best versions of those desserts that weâve ever had. I forgot to take a picture of the dessert menu, but the rest of the menus are posted. The Cottonwood Grille has a menu that changes seasonally but there are some dishes that are so loved that they are always on the menu, including one of my all-time favorites and the first entree I ever ordered here, the Chicken Gorgonzola Tortellini.ïżŒ The Cottonwood Grille also hasïżŒ one of the nicest wine by the glass menus in the area.ïżŒïżŒ Highly Recommended!!!

Wow, what happened to this place? Last time we went here, about 3 years ago, it was one of the best experiences. Yesterday was one of the worst. First, waiting time was very long and the restaurant was only half full. We waited for 20 minutes on drinks, over an hour for main entries. Plus the side dishes came out before appetizer which was weird and we had to ask the waitress. She went back and came back with the appetizer immediately (apparently they just forgot about it..). Second, the food was far from okay, especially for the price. We got their board as an appetizer, it was okay but looked very dry. The salmon on the board looked like it was staying on that plate at least for a day. Salad and clam chowder were actually good, as well as cocktails. My husband got their feature prime rib and I ordered pasta with scallops. Wow...scallops looked like they were precooked and microwaved. Pasta was drowning in grease and spinach underneath the scallops was nearly black. The steak was chewy and dry. It was so salty that we had no choice but to send it back to the kitchen, it was simply uneatable. We've never sent a dish back but paying $44 for a steak that we can't even eat. We left without getting anything instead of the steak because apparently nothing good gonna come out from that kitchen. No any blame on the waitress, she was polite and did her best. She was apologizing from the very beginning without a reason, well now I know that there is reason. We are never coming back.

**AMAZING** (food, service, drinks). I decided to ride down on my mike this week after getting my new BSU student set up, and arrived for a late dinner around 8p - it was busy earlier, but no problems getting a table outside overlooking the greenbelt/Boise River. 1st server (didn't catch his name) was so bad I was about to ask for someone else when a new server (Lucas) arrived. Lucas was so prompt and helpful with everything from food to drink and wine recommendations. On to the impt stuff. 1) Their Midtown Manhattan is phenomenal! No wonder if won an award. 2) Croquetas were simply delicious as something to get going. 3) Their Elk (served rare -- yes, rare. Trust me (and Lucas) on this one. was to die for. The green peppercorn sauce was perfect to bring out the best flavors here. Cooked to perfection. 4) the french onion sound, while tasty, was served just warm - it would have been nice to have this piping hot with runny melted cheese, but no big deal. Dinner was so amazing, we came back the next night with a party of 8; Clark expertly took our last minute request for reservations and made it happen. This is a GREAT restaurant - food was priced right (and in a nice range: $14-$40 for most main courses).

Unfortunately I canât give Cottonwood Grille a great review today, and itâs a bummer. Iâve been before and had excellent experiences. The bloody mary was delicious. Salad was good. View was beautiful, service was excellent. The chicken piccata was not. It seemed to be from frozen chicken and it was super dry and hard to cut. It seemed to be served over spaghetti noodles, not capellini. The sauce (lemon caper butter sauce) was the consistency of pasta water and was tasteless. At first I thought they had dumped pasta water in the bottom of my bowl (it wasnât.) I had a couple bites and didnât take home my leftovers, and thatâs saying something! Another person in our party ordered the seafood quiche and was also very disappointed, the bottom was soggy and it was super fishy (supposed to be baby shrimp and crab.) Hopefully this was a one off, I would give them another try in the future because of excellent past experiences, but this one was a disappointment.

If you like great food, long wait and dated decor than this is the place for you. The food was well seasoned, fresh, and well decorated. The Food taste was ok, we had 9 dishes and only liked 3 of them where great, Elk stake, lemon chicken and Medallion stake. Appetizer was great. The location is amazing- perfect for a walk after lunch or dinner, right in the heart of downtown. Was disappointing to see a high end restaurant displaying signs like âshort staffâ Covid-19 is over so hire more people and pay them. - 1 star for food taste/ selection - 1 star for old decor
