Great things:
oat milk was delicious in my matcha!! What brand is it? I want it!
The glass and ceramic-ware are very pretty.
It has a lot of the things you'd expect from a third wave coffeeshop. Beautiful latte art and plenty of advanced coffee equipment to create consistent espresso and pour over.
Not great things:
My almond croissant had a sort of hardened texture, maybe a day-old?
The front space is small, so there is not much room for people to comfortably wait in line, which puts a lot of pressure on the baristas to rush and to have to bring your beverage up to you once you're seated even if theres a long line.
We sat at the table that looks out over the street and the barista area. We saw a LOT of milk getting thrown out. Managers, could you buy pitchers that have liquid volume markings on them so that you can reduce the immense amount of milk that must get thrown out every day?
On a related note, 3 baristas could barely fit behind the counter, let alone efficiently move around. We saw one of them start pouring a shot, then move somewhere else to work on a different drink, but bumped into the shot glass on accident, so the shot got poured down the drain due to the general anxiety and panic of having a rush and having too many people in a tight space.
Our drinks were good and it's clear that you guys care about creating a really thoughtful product, but I'd say the prices are quite inaccessible for the average person.
The vibes were definitely not "slow by slow", they were "fast by fast", so if you're looking for a cozy place to slow down,...

Read moreI’ve been here several times and have always been impressed! I am a coffee fanatic, and while the goal is to try as many coffee shops as I can, I’m always lured back to Slow By Slow because I know I’ll leave happy. They possess a uniqueness that outshines many coffee shops in Boise, and the product is delicious! And yes, they really are slower than average joints but for good reason. You don’t get great espresso without having to be a little patient.
During my most recent visit I ordered an 8 ounce Demagorgon IV oatmilk latte. This was their speciality Halloween blend with beans from Brandywine Coffee Roasters (Wilmington, DE). The tasting notes read waffles, maple syrup, jam, peaches and butter. I tend to have my drinks served as lattes for the thick, creamy texture. I was blown away by how accurate the tasting notes described the brew. It was really rich, I could only really enjoy the drink through small sips with time in between. My husband got a Costa Rican brew that was not as tasteful but equally satisfying.
If there’s anyone looking for a coffee shop with a little pizzazz I highly recommend Slow by Slow. Not your...
