Took 3 hours to get my cold pizzas. First tried to call in to place an order for delivery, but was told we would need to go online to Delivery.com in order to place our order. Placed order online and it was noted that it would take 1 hour and 45 minutes, which was long but understandable (they're very busy). After about an hour, I got a notification that the order was on its way. An hour after that, the pizza hadn't arrived. We live about 5 minutes or less from Guido's. We tried calling Guido's and were told that they had no control over the delivery, and that if we wanted to re-order our pizza, we'd have to pay a second time. We even offered to pick it up ourselves and were told we'd have to pay again. Called Delivery.com and got the runaround. They said that the driver was 6 minutes away, and didn't offer any sort of compensation for the hassle except $5 off a future order. The driver was not 6 minutes away, he hadn't even picked up the order. Our driver ended up calling us and explained that he hit the wrong button and order wasn't ready, but that he was going to go pick it up now. Called Guido's who said that the pizza had been sitting there for almost an hour and that it was "100% the driver's fault". Keep in mind that we offered to pick up the pizza ourselves, and they had told us they'd have to remake it and charge us twice. Asked to talk to a manager who told me "I just make pies" and that they have no control over the delivery process. I tried to reason and say that while they might not be doing the deliveries, they have chosen to exclusively partner with Delivery.com who did a poor job. Again, instead of trying to offer any compensation she just said "sorry, there's nothing we can do". I would've taken any sort of effort to help make this right, but got nothing. Pizza arrived cold and Delivery.com said they'd escalate this to the next level in order to process a refund, and that I would be contacted in 48 hours. That was 72 hours ago, and still haven't heard anything from them. Sorry Guido's, as I said over the phone, I won't be able to order from here again or recommend your restaurant.
Update, delivery.com refunded the delivery. I still have not heard anything...
Read moreNothing not to like about this earnest, cute pizzeria. It has all the trappings of a classic, street-side little restaurant including the iconic Coke umbrellas and the old-school awning. Seeing it as I round the corner, I think: I’m home.. It’s go-time.
Now as someone not unfamiliar with New York pizza, I am not going to play the part of disgruntled, disappointed proponent of Big Apple ‘za. No, but I will note the pizza here approximates New York style the way that say, the Atlanta Braves resemble the Mets. But it’s good stuff. Were it a child’s drawing, it would instantly and proudly be put on the fridge. And if that paper was as tasty as their take on pizza, well, that paper would disappear in a day, as you chomp chomp chomped here and there, leaving it to Little Timmy to devise another creation to earn your attention.
Excellent for lunch when you are downtown. If I worked on that side, I’d be hitting Guido’s time and again, and might thus be a stranger to the all-important Basque center.
Bonus for the hilarious method the staff employs to ferry the slices into the oven.. stacked casually; it never occurred to me that was Kosher.. but it’s all good. All good. I get my one go-to slice (my secret!) and roll the dice on the daily special slice (never regret!)
Bonus for management’s stab at reproducing New York culture with the sports banners and the like. :-0...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I came to get pizza here due to hearing amazing things. I had completely unacceptable experience. First of all staff was completely rude and short tempered. I'm sorry if you don't like your job it is still your job and you should still be able to handle doing it without being rude and short with other people. Then after the poor service from The young lady up front I waited to the side for the four slices of pizza that I ordered. Unfortunately I was not able to stay in the store for longer than a minute due to the massive amount of flies flying around in my face and all over the interior of the building. I moved outside to wait for the pizza to be finished when the pizza did come it was not brought out to me it was thrown on a counter with paper plates. I had said when I ordered that I was trying to get it to go and I was on a bicycle. Rude downright poor service not to mention here's an attached photo of the slice of pizza I got. Four pieces for 14 bucks this is trash! Do yourself a favor go...
