Krispy Kreme — Restaurant in Jersey City

Such a sad and unfortunate experience going to this Krispy Kreme. Since February 2017 - I've loved this place. I was never a fan of the Penn Station Krispy Kreme because I love my glazed donuts hot and freshly made - which is why this place is perfect. For Christmas, I received a Krispy Kreme calendar and since January, I've used the coupons for each month to get discounts and free donuts but when I visited there a couple weeks ago, I had a very embarrassing incident happen. I went there to buy a dozen donuts and I had an April three-donut coupon and when the female employee scanned the coupon, she asked for a manager's assistance.

When he came over, he immediately looked at the coupon and said, "We don't accept these." There was a line behind me and I was immediately embarrassed. I explained how the coupons came from a Krispy Kreme calendar and have used them since January. He continued to say, "Sir, we don't accept these." Again, embarrassment really overwhelmed me and I told them I would just take the dozen donuts.

I'm not sure if management changed or what the case is, but since this outing I've immediately lost my interest in Krispy Kreme donuts. To make things worse, I live in Fort Lee, New Jersey and drive 45 minutes here to get these donuts for friends and myself and after this outing, I'm just too embarrassed and upset to return. Not only do I have a Krispy Kreme calendar which is now useless but I'm still so uncomfortable about that interaction and looking like I was really trying to do a one-over over three donuts.

The worst part about all of this is I even contacted Krispy Kreme's customer service/corporate office to explain what happened and after being told a manager would contact me, no one did and I had to send a follow-up message and was told the same.

I am extremely upset and disappointed in this location. My boyfriend and I took the drive at 4:30 in the morning to take the drive from Monmouth County to this location since it was the closest one to us. We got there at 6 when they open to find 2 employees who were obviously late running into the store. We came to get 5 dozen glazed donuts to bring home to our families and were then told that they would not be serving their famous original glazed until after 10 am. Krispy Kreme is FAMOUS for their original glazed and hot hours are posted online to be 5am-10am. I just dont understand how they have 0 to sell. Its like owning an ice cream shop and telling your customers you have no ice cream to sell. The employees were speaking in spanish as if we couldnt understand them but we did, claiming they didnt have the time to make it right now and that it was not happening. It was obvious that they were late to their job or something in between those lines. We both come from backgrounds of working in the food industry and working for doughnut shops & pretzel shops that open early just as Krispy Kreme does and found the service unacceptable. I just really dont understand how no glazed could be produced when its known for it and majority of their customers come for it. I am just dumbfounded and so upset that I traveled this far...
