RUDE staff!
I order from this restaurant via Seamless/Grubhub. I ordered the Seafood Stew. When the food was delivered, the packaging was terrible! I order frequently via Seamless and its up the restaurants to ensure food is well packaged. The paper bag the food was placed in was clearly taken out from trash or an already used back, it was stained and very crumpled. The main concern was that the restaurant did not bother to stable to bag which most decent restaurants do, to ensure the food is protected and if the back it opened by the delivery person, it will be obvious. Bistro La Source, did not stable the bag and to make it worse, its clear that the side of bread that comes with the dish, was just thrown into the bag, not wrapped , just thrown into an unsealed bag, exposing it to anything the delivery people could do to tamper with the food. Even if the delivery person did not tamper with the food, its unhygienic to package food this way. The container the seafood stew itself came in, was partially open so the stew had spilt. To make matters worse, the restaurant had placed two pieces of bread inside the stew that were completely soggy
I called the restaurant to explain what had happened, the first person I spoke to said "this is above my pay grade" so passed me to someone else, which was an appauling was to speak to a customer. The second person did give a a chance to fully explain and also passed me to someone else. The last lady I spoke to, was incredibly rude and obnoxious! She didn't even understand or allow me to fully explain the issue, instead she was defensive and blamed Seamless for sending the delivery person too early and said they had to rush packing the food as a result which is a lame excuse. She then suggested that ordering from a delivery service, its to be expected that this would happen which again I disagree with because other restaurants pack the food securely to avoid any spillage or potential of the food being tampered with. In any case I understand things go wrong, however the rude attitude from the staff is what really annoyed me. The excuse making, the lack of apology or accountability was disappointing. She then said "listen I have a line of other customers to deal with what do you expect me to do" she offered to send another dish, I declined because no way I would trust food from this restaurant after the way they spoke to me almost as though I was being the nuisance. If they cannot handle order fulfillment on delivery apps and package food properly, they should get off those services! If they cannot provide good service and ensure food is well packaged for hygiene purposes, again, they should get out of that business.
I will never order from or go to this restaurant again, not because something went wrong with the order or the packaging, but because of how rude the staff and management were in dealing...
Read moreMoved to JC a few months ago Been meaning to try this place for a while. We finally went today and for starters we had the fried calamari and the fennel salad Lyonnaise those were both very good. The waitress that took our order was also very friendly and nice. I was craving a good piece of steak and saw on their menu they have steak and frites - what better than that on a sunny hot summer Sunday. The price was $30 which I thought was considerably overpriced. But I thought ok... I'm craving a good steak and if it's $30 it's gotta be a good piece of lean quality meat (as one would expect paying that price) - was I right? ... WRONG! The fries were really good however the centre piece of my meal (the steak fillet) was average size of a fillet and about 80% was fatty chunky pieces of fat. I had to really dig and cut through the steak and cut out all the fatty pieces. When I was done eating the steak I saw the pieces that were cut out (the fatty pieces) was essentially the majority of the portion of steak I couldn't help but be upset that I was just about to pay $30 for a portion of such poor quality meat. So when there waitress came over I had to raise the complaint. She was very kind and told the owner who then came over and condescendingly explained to me why the quality of the steak was so fatty... he started telling me about the different parts the cow and why it was so fatty and proceeded to ask me if I wanted it taken out of the bill... to which I answered yes please...at that point I just felt disrespected with his condescension... it doesn't take a genius or someone to be highly educated in the different parts of a cow to figure out that an extremely fatty piece of steak should not be priced at $30.... it's fine if you want charge such a high price but at least ensure that you are providing a high quality product and when it comes to steak for me a high quality piece of steak is one that's lean and low in...
Read moreI had passed by this place a few times and was always on my list. Finally I made it this week.
The decor is simple, reminded me of Parisian cafes and my trip there. Pretty intimate seating if you get the right tables, though some of the tables not so much.
The service was excellent and welcoming. They seated 2 of us in no time without reservations on a Friday evening. It was busy, with a few empty tables. We got enough time to check the menu and order apps and wine, weren't rushed. No fuss.
The menu is pretty much French. Bread was served with the wine. We ordered squash blossom fritters, escargots and beet salad as appetizers. They were all very delicious. Please try the fritters for sure.
Those were filling, so we not sure how much to order, the server gave us good estimates for the mains. We wanted to try the vegetable platter and the server did say that it would be enough if we were to share. Made sense as we wanted to order the dessert.
For dessert we ordered the almond cake and the creme brulee. The cake was good, went well with he pistachio ice cream. The brulee however was not that great, did not finish it it seemed like they had made it earlier and frozen it, n served as is. I at least expect the sugar to be burned just before serving, which didn't seem to be the case. Hence, the 4 star, wasn't impressed by the dessert. :(
We will however visit again, hopefully sooner. Would also like to check out their brunch. Definitely...
