Meh. With everyone raving about this place, I was a little disappointed. Our server was great and very friendly. Outside atmosphere was nice. Food was just average, run of the mill and over priced, it wasn't bad, but nothing spectacular.
Our table outside was falling part, not just wobbly because of uneven legs but collapsing upon itself because no one is bothering to tighten the fasteners that keep the table square. I know that sounds like a petty complaint because most outdoor seating tables are a little wobbly, but this was next level, like trying to eat on a see saw and keep the drinks from falling over.
Then, while trying enjoy a nice peaceful outdoor lunch at around 2:30 in the afternoon, the establishment all of a sudden turned on this blaring music over the speakers outdoors that was like being in a dance club. Now don't get me wrong, I like loud music sometimes, I am the singer in a rock band and not some 85 year old man that complains about loud music all the time, but not while eating lunch and enjoying the ambient sounds of the boats passing by and the light conversation around us. Some people may find that enjoyable while eating, but I certainly do not. I was yelling to speak to the person I was eating lunch with right next to me at the table. We also couldn't communicate with our server either. I asked them to turn it down, and they did, slightly, but it was still very unpleasant and still way too loud.
Finally, at the end of the meal I realized that the restaurant automatically tacks on a forced 18% tip. This amount is not a problem for me because I usually almost always tip 20% or more. But the fact that they are forcing me to do it, that doesn't sit well with me. That should be at my discretion and I don't like being forced to do anything. Why not make your menu prices 18% higher and say that you are eliminating tipping? I don't think I'll be back, there is plenty of other local Mexican food of better quality, in a lower price range, without the other nonsense that...

Read moreJust a year ago I gave this place five stars and it was very deserving of such. Yesterday I had an experience that if it weren't for eating here often prior (A go to for friends and out of town guest business and personal) I'd of given two stars. The food is still fantastic. The guacamole maker is out of this world. The experience was subpar after going for happy hour. I'd ordered food on the menu to go ,alongside dining in. (Intending to pay full price for the items that were to go) These items were on the happy hour menu. The togo order was rang up wrong. As I'm waiting on the food and preparing to pay (As I'd asked multiple times for a separate bill because this was a to go order that was different from the dine in order) a gentleman comes over. (Tall, older, maybe management that day) He LOUDLY proclaims to me as if I'm child "These are happy hour items and I'll let it slide this time". I'm a paying patron just as everyone else is and wonder if my skin color was different if he would've felt comfortable talking to me in this capacity instead of coming to the table from around back and expressing this in a non elevated tone. It is the reason why I probably won't be back to one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area (I drive from far west out in the Farms) and would prefer to drive either 30 minutes to an hour North or South for good food and service. As a business owner myself, I was more than appalled and my wife equally appalled. If I ever do order here again as long as this person feels comfortable speaking to people in this manner, I'd definitely order to go. First horrible experience here. Everything else about this visit was as amazing as it always has...
