We had originally arrived at another restaurant for my boyfriends birthday dinner. They seated us fast but the waitress never came to the table and when we left guilted us rather than apologized for forgetting us. So we were already jaded when we decided to try another place.
Upon arrival to Tommy Bahamas, we were confused by the store/restaurant atmosphere. I probably would never choose the high tops in the bar area because itâs right next to the shopping and that felt kind of off to me. We were greeted, however, by two friendly and cheerful hostesses as well as who I think may have been a manager, because she kindly made her rounds checking on us later in the meal. We were seated promptly outside in the perfect spot to watch and hear the live music. Our waiter was Michael and he was AWESOME. I am big on service when I go out to eat, if youâve read any of my other reviews, and he made the experience at Tommy Bahamas so great. He was laid back, comfortable managing multiple tables, which our server at the previous restaurant just couldnât handle, and had a fun sense of humor. We asked him some questions about the menu, which he described with knowledge of the culinary details, helping us order the perfect options for what we were in the mood for.
The bread is accompanied with a special in house butter with honey, cinnamon and nutmeg which was a nice autumn touch, since Florida lacks that fall Autumn vibe in general.
As an appetizer we had the bbq chicken lollipops which were fantastic, with a little kick and were encrusted with nuts to create the perfect texture in each bite. My daughters chicken fingers were battered evenly and had the right amount of crunch, although the batter flavor didnât appeal to me personally. She loved it with the honey mustard.
My grilled chicken sandwich was moist and tender, with a delicious sauce that I donât recall what it was but it was to die for. The crunchy fried onions were SO good on top and the yuca fries were good with the spicy dipping sauce.
My boyfriends Parmesan encrusted chicken was heavy for me personally, but loves a good calorie indulgence so he enjoyed it a lot.
We didnât eat dessert although they looked tasty. The birthday boy wanted froyo so we went next door but next time I will order some, and there definitely will be a next time. We plan to ask for Michaels section again.
The only con I can point out is I feel as though the prices are a bit high, but I will also point out that I am willing to pay more for experiences like this one. It is well worth it because this restaurant played a huge part in making Johnâs...

I sent a pair of sunglasses to Maui Jim for lense replacement; those particular lenses were discontinued & inventory depleted so they offered me 50% off any new different model. Since some models can be too large for my face/head, I went to Tommy Bahama to test fit. I was upfront and explained that I was looking at sunglasses that would be purchased directly from the manufacturer. TWO TB employees worked and conversed with me for at least 15 minutes (the model I really wanted to try was too new to be in stores yet). I was also not dressed well; wearing an old SPF fishing shirt, shorts, and Crocs. I mention that because some "Premium/Luxury lifestyle" brands & higher-end fashion places can have snooty, judgemental employees. Yet, here were two people (Alexander & wish-I-knew-her-name) knowing I was only there to try on sunglasses and not looking like their target demographic being as friendly and helpful as can be.
Though I originally had no intention of getting clothes, I did spend another 40 minutes there browsing, dropped nearly a grand and probably wound up being their biggest sale of the day. While this wasn't a "reward" for their great service, had they just brushed me off at first for looking like a fishing/beach bum with no intention to purchase, I wouldn't have stuck around.
The store itself was nice, with a decently large selection of menswear. Designs, colors, materials, and fit were all great; classic Tommy Bahama and South Florida/tropical/nautical styles. TB has never been particularly budget-friendly & probably even less so now. Overpriced..yeah, probably; but the product & design is distinctive and attractive. While I question (and read some complaint reviews) whether the quality and durability is what it once was, most everything looked, felt, and wore top notch. We'll see how well they hold up to repeat wearings. So far, so good.
Parking can be (and was, even at 2:30 on a Wednesday) an issue here, but that's not TB's; it's just the way the whole development was laid out.
So, anyway, the store was very nice as was the clothing and selection. But the real winners here were...
Read moreI would give this place a 4-5 star if youâre just going to eat for one night but Iâm giving it a 3 star due to the disappointment I felt during my rehearsal dinner. We got married at the Wyndham a few months ago and decided to have our welcome party that had about 30 guests at Tommy Bahamas since it was so convenient to the hotel. I had to call multiple times because the woman who was helping me with the party via email would randomly ghost me and not respond. When we finally got almost everything settled, I asked if I could include a kids meal for my nephew. This was sent a week before my wedding and she never got back to me. The rehearsal dinner came and went and she never ever responded to my last question nor sent a âthank youâ email. We just spent 4 thousand dollars at her restaurant, I thought a follow up email asking how everything was would be nice. The food was good but the service for my dinner was pretty disappointing as well. We had one server for 30 guests and even though it was buffet style, we still had drink orders and people waited a long time for them. I even asked for an extra table to put gifts on and was told no because we had exactly enough seats and tables for the guests I requested. I didnât need chairs, I just wanted a place to put my gifts and there was a stack of extra tables right next to us. My fiancĂ© and I awkwardly stood so we could use the table we had for ourselves for the gifts and handed them out early so we could eat. Iâve worked at restaurants for over a decade and I was shocked by the service. Still never received a thank you email or follow up to my question I asked months ago. Didnât let it ruin my night but I wonât hold an event...
