I have been a regular customer of the bistro for 2 years... I am an amazing fan of Paul, the head chef. but friday evening I got (as I frequently do) a "to go" meal. Paul was NOT the chef on duty. I got home and opened my meal and was sadly disappointed between what I ordered and what I recieved. I called the bistro and was told by a harried and busy staff member to" take it up with Gene"..... I, as a regular customer, and a generous tipper, was brushed off. that got me to thinking... I have spent a lot of $$$ in there in the last coupla years... NOT ONCE...NOT EVER have Gene (the owner) or any of the staff, bought me a drink...not once, not ever... not for my birthday...not for xmas or newyears...not for gay pride..not for Guy Fawlkes day.....NOT EVER. If you dont fit into thier clique...dont bother wasting your money there... and if Genes "partner" Jeffery is in town..he'll hit on you and if you dont respond , he'll fluff up and tell you he "owns the joint" and you can just "get out".....as he told me.... that should have been a good clue...but I'm sentimental.... As a self proclaimed "supporter of the local gay community"... it seems as if the owners of the bistro are far more interesed in promoting the agendas of their "monied ($$$$)" clientele....so much more so than the "average joe" clientele that make up thier day to day dollars generated....I, for one, will never cross thier...
Read moreI love supporting my local gays - I always will. But it was my birthday and my friend and I started the night here. The staff was so rude, and my friend who brought me is so shy, he would never say anything. He was embarressed for me.
The boys are cute, no doubt about that. And the decor is nice. Someone likes Veuve Clicquot as much as me because they have it, even a large mural on the patio area. Love, love it.
We over heard one staff member say, "I own this place." Someone (another customer) said "Oh, thats Josh." I guess he really DOES own the place because everywhere we went, the back patio, the side dining area, all we heard was his name. The back patio is very charming and reminded me of growing up in Charleston S.C. A heavy set man serving food was very pushy too, and wouldn't even say excuse me. They made me feel as a female, vey unwelcome.
I don't understand. My best friend is gay. HE BROUGHT me here. We just stood in a corner like we did something wrong.
Also, our check didn't seem right. I wanted to say something but my friend just paid the bill and we left.
To the management - Please tell your employees to be nice to all customers. Easpecially when they spend very good money to celebrate at your establisment. We teach manners back in the South.
I do...
Read moreThis review is super late. I was here enjoying a trivia night with my girlfriend and her friend. I'll admit I did searches about this place and was happy to see the information I found was pretty on point.
The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful! I found my self feeling like I was in a lavish establishment, but some how among friendly neighbors and friends. I even made one while I was there! (Hello, Jenny!) Needless to say everyone I made eye contact with had a friendly nod and smile.
The food was SO nice. I had the Seared Yellowfin Tuna. It was amazing! The plating was incredible with a lovely arrangement of beautiful colors on a bed of fluffy risotto. And the asparagus was cooked perfectly! I made it a point to eat it much slower than the the outstanding server Venice tended to our orders, and drink refills.
If you haven't tried this place out yet, and are looking for a good place for good memories. Great staff, great style, great dishes, and as far as I could tell the folks at the bar were...
