1st time on the patio and our 4th time here. Seems like food quality has dropped slightly every time… starting with my craft cocktail, Son of a Farmer, for $22 it came out with just a cherry on a “toothpick”, no craft ice cube or orange peel. Just came off lack luster for a “Craft Cocktail.” My wife got the Bangkok Fizz and seemed to enjoy it. Appetizers, got the Paco Shrimp - perfect, The Lobster, Shrimp & Goat Cheese Purses - ok, the sauce was the best part, the filling was, surprisingly, a bit dull. Dinner, wife got the salmon, a tad overcooked and dry in the middle, risotto was great along with the shallot garnish. I got the Rack of Lamb, 1 of the 3 medallions was overcooked. I ordered medium. The Dijon sauce was a little broken. Mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious, wish it had more gravy. Service, overheard our server say to another table that she was new and it showed. She was nice but we waited a lot, especially when we first got there and sat with our waters for some time. We will come back cause there are other dishes we want to try like the lamb lollipop and steamed mussels, we just have to lower our expectations.

Loved the atmosphere! Loved the happy hour appetizers! We ordered pizza, meatballs, mussels, & tacos. My coworker had the mussels and cleaned the bowl she loved them. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I was walked past about 5 times while sitting at the bar until finally I said are yall still serving or what? My coworker was already seated eating her mussels and had grabbed me a water until my arrival and it was like I’d never arrived. I ordered crown & coke (not on happy hour) and it was watered down tasting but I prefer apple crown which they don’t carry. My 2nd round I asked for whatever was on happy hour with coke and let me just say it was delicious it was so smooth it tasted so much better than crown. I asked what it was and Nate told me then showed me the bottle. I was like wow “old forester” is cheaper yet much better then crown. The other guy that was pretty stand off ish the entire time we was there lightened up tremendously and engaged in the conversation. Too bad the energy wasn’t like that the entire time. They lost a star due to that.

We went to JJs for my mom’s 50th birthday and unfortunately it was very underwhelming. I visited this establishment about 2-3 years ago for a date night and it was fantastic. The first time we came here the apps (Goat Cheese purses) there were 4 on the plate, fast forward to 3 months ago from another review and they had 3 on the plate, then fast forward to 2025 now they only offer 2 on the plate. For dinner the steaks were overcooked (mom and I asked for medium and they came out well done), the lamb chops had too much of a char, but the chicken Marsala was pretty flavorful. Service could have been better for the price of the plates. I could tell something had changed with this restaurant as soon as I was sat at the table, there were only 3 tables occupied in the main dining room. Honest opinion use your hard earned money at Eddie vs or capital grille (even Cooper’s hawk) you could probably make a better steak and sides at home. The total bill was 350 dollars at almost 100.00 a plate, sadly we will not return after tonight.

Food: I had one of the worst food experiences at a restaurant of this price point in my life. As recommended by my waiter, I ordered the pork chop. He said to get it medium because it was smoked. When the pork chop came out, it was more than well done. I could not even cut into the meat without shaking the entire table. After notifying the waiter of the issue, he asked if there was anything else on the menu I would like to order instead. I ordered the KC strip steak. After waiting for them to prepare the steak, when I cut into it, the steak was blue raw. It was not even cooked. I had to send the steak back to get further cooked and this whole time, my date had already finished her meal. 2/5 stars

Service: the server I had was very patient and kind. For every course I sent back, he offered to replace my silverware and overall had a positive attitude. He did a great job despite the failure of the kitchen. I honestly started to feel bad for the waiter because he kept apologizing for the issues even though it was not his fault. 5/5 stars.

Atmosphere: for a restaurant of this price point, I expected the atmosphere to be better. The dining room was extremely cramped. When entering and exiting it was like navigating a maze trying not to hit other tables. The dining room was also tremendously loud with a party nearby occasionally laughing so hard they felt the need to clap. The table I was seated at, had a dirty ladder that the staff forgot to put away by the table. 1/5 stars.

Overall, my waiter was very kind but the kitchen and atmosphere was horrid. I would not personally recommend dining here especially for big occasions like...

It has been 15 or more years since I have been to JJ's the allure is its culture in KC however I found it not to be true. We arrived for dinner with reservations yet was a bit of a wait, was seated at a table that should be removed as it does not treat the guest to any type of atmosphere of fine dinning. The waiter took 10-12 minutes to arrive in fact the water boy had to point out she had not attended the table, she took our drink order and then was lost for another 10 minutes. Ah finally to order dinner, which she failed to tell us about any of the specials, had to ask, the poof she was off did not ask if we need drinks refilled. Dinner arrived 20-25 minutes later, as plane and bland as it get...a steak and asparagus on a plane white plate....my kids at home do a better presentation. She did not offer another round of drinks and the 1st ones were gone over 30 minutes earlier...had to ask. When I asked for a mgr I was told he was coming over, I finally had to go to the receptionist desk to ask for him, and once again he let me stand for 10 minutes. It was not until I told the receptionist that I was not going to pay the bill did he appear. yes ye apologized and took care of the bill ....but at no time did he or anyone including JJ who was within 5 feet offer any enticement to return, and that I can assure you we will not. I was totally disappointed with the entire evening and...

Location is great, with convenient garage parking ($12). Food was exceptional. We had the lobster purses and wrapped shrimp to start, as well as a bottle of Rutherford Hill and some cocktails. We continued to enjoy the beet salad followed by our entrees. The 12oz strip truly tastes like a filet and the pork chop would be a fantastic choice as well. Both have a char flavor from the grill that is mouthwatering.

Be careful of the spinach and tomatoes as they’re loaded with garlic, and bread is an additional charge.

We finished the meal with four glasses of Tawny port, the chocolate ganache, as well as a limoncello cake. All worth it!

The only rub, which unfortunately really stuck with us, was the service. The older female server spent time telling us that she knew everything about the menu, in a way that was awkward. She recorded one meal incorrectly which is fine… but when we found out as the food was being delivered, she challenged us, doubting what we were saying, and trying to argue that she heard something different. The whole table was in agreement regarding the original order. She then asked what we wanted to do with the incorrect dish, but quickly took it before a decision was made and left one person without food. She was rough around the edges for sure and pushy in her selling style.

Otherwise, JJ’s...
