Don't pay too much attention to this rating.
I have been unable to try all their food and many of my expectations of what this place was supposed to be were wrong.
I thought they would have Pho. I thought it would have "normal" people. But the whole place felt very. Progressive. I apologize, just because a person looks a certain way doesn't mean they will behave that way. But because of the general style of the workers, I felt like I was more in a dive bar than a nice little mom-and-pop restaurant. Which just goes to show, as much as many children want it, appearances do make a difference.
Even though they tried to have many booths to help people feel a little more private, the layout of the seating put half the place directly facing the front door. It's the difference between sitting at a table and sitting at a bar.
I just think that I am not their targeted demographic. And so in terms of food. Which is the first and foremost reason a person goes to eat, it was, again, progressive, for lack of a better word. It felt like a sudo-dress up of a normal dish that had some fusion aspects. But again. I was not expecting any of this. In fact, I've only eaten two different curries so do not have a lot of experience. And both were Indian style. Which is why the environment took up most of my experience. I was also. Alone! Yes, it was a quick, unplanned break, with just a simple off-the-cuff memory being told about this place that made my whimsical assmole come to this place.
In terms of pricing. A little pricey, and why does no one carry actual green tea instead of this bone crap-eola!
If your restaurant is in any way asian, carry some decent non-bone green tea.
So in short, pay more attention to other people's opinions of this place than mine. But if you're asking me if I will return. That's a hard no. If you want some really good pho, this doesn't serve it, if you want some decent green tea, they don't have it. And I guess that's the jest of what i know.
Oh, and if you're the owner reading this. Better green tea, teapots that keep it hot for longer(maybe slightly larger too). Give the option of putting blinds down(i dont know if you already do but goes along with my next point, try to find a better layout to separate as many people from seeing the entrance. Don't take this advice to heart. I am no expert. But seriously, fix the tea...
Read moreMy expectations were low already since we were in Missouri eating Thai food but I was still very disappointed.
We ordered Lulu's rolls and they came out relatively quickly. They were pork filled and the sauce was good.
We also ordered the appetizer sampler to start and that didn't come out until after the entrees were almost done and after we reminded the waitress we ordered it. By that time none of us were hungry anymore so we didn't really eat much of it. What I did try wasn't anything to write home about. It was very standard stuff and not very flavorful.
I got the bahn mi bowl from their special menu. It was a big bowl of rice with some dry and flavorless chicken with slices of avocado. I expected some pickled carrots or daikon like bahn mis usually have. It came with barely a sprinkle of that. It did come with 2 bowls of sauces which I actually had to use because there really was no flavor. Also for some reason it came with a boiled egg cut in half. I'm not sure why since it made the whole bowl drier.
People at my table got the peanut noodles and the pad se eu. The portions looked small since they put it on a plate instead of a bowl. The peanut noodles probably got the best reviews from the table. We also ordered the Tom yum soup which isn't my favorite in general so I couldn't judge. My friend who ordered it said it was lacking in flavor.
The food was on par with what I expected from a Missouri Thai spot. What I didn't expect was the really horrible service we got. We were a table of 5 and made a reservation. When we came in they had no record of this reservation. They just sat us in the back corner which was fine. But since they had a divider from the front of the restaurant to the back, the wait staff could never see us unless they came to the back. We felt like we were ignored the entire time. We ordered drinks which slowly came out after we reminded them. As mentioned before, the sampler came out much later than everything else and barely got an apology.
The place itself is very fusion and stylish. Reminded me of any new restaurant in Williamsburg. I think that just more effort could have been spent on the food rather than the decor.
Maybe on a different night and if we were sat in the front, this would have been a different experience. After this experience, I wouldn't...
Read moreLulu's Thai Noodle Shop is a modern Thai restaurant that offers a unique and delicious dining experience. The restaurant is located in a small, unassuming building, but the food is anything but ordinary. The menu features a variety of Thai dishes, all of which are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lulu's Diner, and I was blown away by the food. I started with the tempura vegetables, which were light and crispy. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the batter was light and airy. I also had the tom yum soup, which was one of the best I've ever had. The soup was flavorful and spicy, with a perfect balance of sweet and sour. For my main course, I had the wild mushroom curry, which was absolutely delicious. The curry was rich and creamy, with a deep, earthy flavor. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and the dish was served with a generous portion of rice.
I highly recommend Lulu's Diner to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Thai meal. The food is outstanding, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!
