Since I was confused on my first visit, here is a guide to eating at The Mixx. When you walk in, their menu can be found on the wall to your right or you can pick up one by the door. There is a salad/soup line and another for sandwiches. Not sure what you do if you want both. Just like so many fast-food chains, you step up to a counter where they put together your salad based on what ingredients you want (think of Subway). They will give you a slip of paper along with your food and I guess you then grab a bottled drink product or go to the cashier if you want a fountain option. The cashier is where you'll see two screens at the end of the counter. Hand them the slip of paper. I'm not sure if you are suppose to take a glass or if the cashier should give you one if you order a fountain drink. I think you should take one since it wasn't offered to me and the cups by the fountain drinks is just a water cup. I give this detail since the service I had wasn't great. To begin with, for some reason the salad line didn't move for about 10 to 15 minutes. It didn't help that it appeared other employees could have been helping to get the line moving. A few instructions on what to do next from the guy that plated your salad would have been helpful. The cashier being at her station and also giving some guidance would also have been helpful. Once you've been here, the second time should be so much easier. I finally made it to a table where my friend had already gotten his hot sandwich and was waiting for me and my cold Santa Fe salad. Although we enjoyed our food, there wasn't anything special about it. The cafeteria feel had a Panera quality to the meal, but nothing nicer comes to mind when trying to compare what we got. When I asked my friend if he intends to go back, we both agreed that this was a...
Read moreMy wife and I actually love the food here. We've eaten at the mix more times than I can count. It's nice to have a place that has fresh ingredients and healthy options.
But the reason I can't give it five stars definitely falls on two factors. Wait time and customer service.
As a restaurant that is "order at the counter", you would expect most items (excluding salads of course) to be prepared fairly quickly. Since most of the menu items are made to order, I'm obviously not expecting McDonald's drive-thru fast, but there are many restaurants that are sitdown restaurants that I can call and order in and still get it in a shorter amount of time than at the Mix.
My food has taken so long on multiple occasions that the manager has actually had to give me something free or comped my meal because of it.
The second thing is customer service. I'm not sure what it is about the people who work here, but they seem extremely unhappy. Most the time the cashiers don't smile, say thank you, or even repeat your order back to you to make sure that they got it correct. Which has resulted in a number of occasions where my orders have not been correct.
I have to say that one of the managers stands out, I don't know her name, but my wife and I were here with her daughter and she was super sweet and offering things for her daughter to eat and to try and was very accommodating. Hopefully her personality and customer service will be caught on by the employees.
We won't stop eating here anytime soon, just hoping for the experience to get better for...
Read moreUncomfortable experience at 10 am. I was on my way home from some charity work and thought I would pick up a salad, as the options are good at the Mixx. I stepped up to the counter and they said they open in 20 minutes (huh, the door wasn't locked). I thought, okay, guess I can wait for a bit. I was headed to the bathroom when a female worker stopped me with a rather impertinent, "Can I help you?" I said no. I thought, well, maybe I am underfoot while they are trying to get ready, and stepped outside to wait in their outdoor seating. I was quietly waiting outside when approached by some security, with a very condescending "Heeeey....how'r you doing over there?" (with the tone of, what are you even doing here, are you homeless or something??). I said I am waiting. He said in a rather arrogant tone that seating is only for the Mixx (well, duh!). I said, yes, I am waiting for them to open. "Looks like you can go in NOW!" he says as if I am fibbing about wanting to order for the use of a chair. Then he proceeds to go in and sit indoors at the Mixx and train another security person while NOT ordering. What an obnoxious start to the day. Nice food, but if you are a minute early be prepared to be treated...
