Bubble Egg — Restaurant in Katy

Katy Asian Town has so much to offer. It overflows with Asian- inspired eats and cool treats and my teenagers and I have made it a point to visit every establishment in Katy Asian Town within the next several months. A place we just tried that did not disappoint is Bubble Egg.

At Bubble Egg, you can get your fill of ice cream waffles and drinks. The Bubble Waffles, made from Hong Kong style egg waffles and filled with ice cream, are the specialty here. You can enhance your waffle up front by adding fillings that range from bacon to chocolate chips to cheese. You then select among ten or so ice cream flavors and you can then top with assorted nuts, fruit, etc. The waffles and the special fillings, ice cream, toppings, etc are much better than the typical ice cream cone.

Once you have your Bubble egg waffle and ice cream, you will want to get a drink. Fruit teas, milk teas, and coffee drinks are among the options. Thai milk tea is my usual choice, but there are many other tasty choices for drinks. Youi can even opt for a combo that includes a drink with your waffle ice cream concoction. Oh, and if your appetite is a little stronger and you would like something other than sugar, Bubble Egg sells foods such as chicken tenders, wings, and fries.

With the atmosphere, Bubble Egg features a basic interior, small to medium in size. The metal seats are not the most comfortable, especially the ones that are nothing but stools with no backs. I recommend sitting at one of the low tables with seats that have backs, or on the couch if it’s available. They have a giant connect four game for entertainment, too.

Orders at Bubble Egg are placed at the counter, but they bring the food to your table, which is nice. It is yet another memorable place for light foods and sweet treats and drinks here in Katy Asian Town and a place we will certainly be returning to, just to get another one of these delicious egg waffles filled...

Went to this Bubble Egg shop in Katy, TX during its soft opening, with the incentive of a 25% discount off an entire purchase by the customer, which wasn't accounted for at first nor offered by its staff. In addition, when the 25% discount was asked if it can be applied and reimbursed to a customer's previous purchase, the staff behind the counter said "sorry, [but,we can apply it] on your next purchase.". Which brings to my attention that the staff didn't know or ignored the discount being offered from the store's soft opening promotion for the benefit of customer experience. Then, ice cream samples were being provided with sample spoons that were picked from the trash container on the counter. Indicating that these sample spoons were used by other people and thrown away into this trash container. Which may contain saliva and residue from other people's mouths transmitting bacteria, germs, and viruses from person to person, that can lead to diseases and other sicknesses, which is a major health concern. Afterwards, the chicken wings were disappointing, it may be hot on the outside however, that first or second bite into the chicken was said to be "cold". This is unacceptable for a hot chicken wing unexpectedly to be cold. Furthermore, these concerns about the store's service and quality raised the assumption that the staff either didn't care/ignored its customers or didn't put enough effort, time, and consideration. Many would say that it's only a soft opening, a practice run before its grand opening, which would defend the staff's inexperience and needs more time for adjustments. However, the consideration of service and quality was just utterly disappointing for its soft opening. Do NOT come to this place. I don’t know how to emphasize this enough other than writing this review. My friends and I came to this place after seeing the online advertisement for the soft opening and were excited because we expected it to be like the Bubble Egg in Bellaire. When I asked to sample the Nutella Wafer ice cream, the boy behind the counter mumbled to his coworker that they had ran out of sample spoons. He then proceeded to pull a sample spoon out of the TRASH cup, scoops the ice cream and gives it to me. Of course if I saw it I would have said something but unfortunately none of us noticed until after I ate the ice cream. We were all shocked that he would even think to pull a spoon out of the trash cup and give it to me as it is a health concern. Hundreds of people’s saliva hav been in the cup and who knows what bacteria and viruses have been in there. In addition to that he contaminated the bucket of ice cream with the dirty spoon. I had to warn other customers NOT to take any samples from this place because it will make you sick. Thankfully they left the place immediately. When we came in to the soft opening they had 25% off all purchases and we noticed that they did not give us 25% off!! We paid the FULL price and when my friend went to complain to the worker, she attempted to look surprised and said, “we’ll give 25% off your next purchase”... Despicable. It did not even end there. When they came out with the chicken and waffle, the outside of the chicken was hot but the inside was cold! What in the world? I cannot even begin to comprehend how this happens.
