Jimmy Changas {Katy} — Restaurant in Katy

We went on a Sunday to celebrate my son's birthday. They asked us to wait for them to clean a table so we sat down. We see people coming in and taken to a table. After a while we ask about ours, it had been more than 15 minutes..yeah they forgot about us. We finally get a table, order our food and drinks. We get the food but never the margaritas, after a while I ask our waiter and he said they're still working on them.. ok We waited and nothing, we had to get up and go to the bar ourselves to get them. We got no knives, just forks and when I asked if they had knives he said, yeah and brought me ONE steak knife.. really? It was a surprise for me to receive such bad service, it's usually better. I also realized after paying that we were charged for the bigger margarita but got the smaller one.. On a good note the food was good as usual.. Won't be going back soon for sure!

Update: Went back today after a while. We decided to stop by for dinner, well after spending about $100 for basic, dry, flavorless Mexican food reminded me why I stopped coming. The food looked meh, the only decent thing was the fajitas. The atmosphere was kind of sad and depressing, it was barely 9 and not too busy. We ordered a couple margaritas and they were just ok. One of them was so water down that you could barely taste the tequila.. I wish I had taken pictures but I guess that were not “picture worthy” for sure haha All the employees looked like they were on break, just ready to go home. And on the way out we wanted to try the ice cream machine but it was not cold and only one flavor was working.. That was...

Update: I came back a few weeks ago and apparently the management took care of the problem. The food was good as it was before and portions were decent like they used to be in the past . Food was fresh and perfectly cooked.

I was there yesterday and I can say that the restaurant has declined, The food portions are smaller, more expensive and the quality of the food is not the same. I ordered the Pollo marisco and the good cucumber salad that they used to served with the dish was replaced for one little portion of pico de gallo. Also the chicken looked like it was boiled first before they grilled it, and it had this pink color inside. My husband ordered medium well beef fajita and it was raw, also the portion was ridiculous small. This place was in the past one of my favorite restaurants. I understand that inflation is affecting the businesses all over the country, but if you are charging more money to the customers for their food at least provide them with a decent portions and quality food. Lately most restaurants are declining in USA compare to other countries. The quality of the food is bad, and some owners only care about making profits, and they want to charge you for everything. Most restaurant in the country are becoming third class restaurants.

Added update 2nd visit for Bday Lunch for wife’s bday. Had Mykala again as our server. She did a great job again! We tried a few added items, shrimp enchilada platter great, wife loved it. Taco Platter son in law said was outstanding. Thumbs up on their pork taco but all 3 were great options and a very generous portion of meat in each taco. Cheese enchiladas solid choice, but really enjoyed their charro beans, served in a cup like a chili…get a bowl of that and a crunchy taco for a nice quick lunch or dinner could be a winner.

Also their Southwest Spring Roll appetizer platter, soooo good! Dipped with their green avocado ranch dressing 👍😁Grand kids love the play area & free ice cream!👍👍Would actually give 5+ stars. They do a lot of things great at Jimmy Changas Katy👏😉👍Well done! … First time dining here. Had the Chicken Fajita Bowl, excellent. Chips very light and tasty. Enjoyed the avocado ranch dressing a lot…Chip salsa ok, Cheese Enchilda very good. Southwest Egg Rolls ver good. Jimmy’s Platter a ton of food. Easily split for 2 people.

Our server Mykalawas great. Very friendly, grand kids liked her and she drew quite a nice snowman on our receipt….dual talented server and artist!😉😁👏

Patio area heated and nice fountain and fire ambience. 👍😁 Will be back for sure.
