Kirin Ramen Poke & Teriyaki — Restaurant in Kerrville

I don't know if i expected too much but the wife and daughter shared plate of chicken yaki udon and my son and i got a plate of chicken curry don. My son and i forced ourselves to eat about 10% of it and couldn't finish it. My wife and daughter left most of their yaki udon as well. None of us liked the food. Our favorite Japanese food is chicken katsu curry and while this looked similar, it tasted nothing like what we were used to. I don't know if we didn't get what they were known for, went on a bad day or what happened but at $50 for three plates of food that none of us liked was a bit much. That being said, or waitress was nice, the guy that explained the food options was nice and the interior looked clean. If only the food had been good. I want to start by saying the boba was amazing. Definitely a must-have if you come here! As for the ramen, I ordered the yummy chicken ramen, but they used white breast meat for it, for some reason. The slices were dry and tough and I couldn't really bite it easily. Traditionally you use dark meat for chicken ramen because it is more flavorful. Other than my dry chicken slices, the ramen was good, tasty broth. The husband got the tonkatsu ramen and that one was much much better than the chicken. We also ordered some vegetable tempura, but were confused by the sauce they gave us for the dish. It's traditionally served with a soy mirin sauce, but they gave us some thick, spicy sauce kind of like a fry sauce. Very odd. All in all, I'll come back here again. Got two poke bowls to go and the guy who served me had a fantastic attitude. There’s a separate menu for the poke bowls where you tick off what all you want in your poke bowl. Good selection, and their ahi tuna looks and tastes great: no overwhelming fishy taste and not sinewy at all. Very delicious, will be coming back to try the ramen for sure. It’s also so refreshing to see a restaurant have operating hours until 10pm in this tiny town! My hubby and I don’t get off work until 9pm and our only options are fast food mostly.
