Atmosphere and service excellent. Music a bit loud for my taste, but conversation was still possible, and music helped drown out the conversations of others nearby, as this is a busy place. It's no surprise it's busy, it's excellent. Service excellent. Food is excellent. Ambiance Excellent. Attention to detail amazing- in restaurant design, decor, custom plates made with a Ketchikan imprint in the bottom... They were a down a server the night we came, and still the service was top-notch. Highly recommend. We needed a restaurant like this in Ketchikan. Stands well above the rest.
Brie-eautiful (appetizer) Be sure to eat the fruit and cheese together. It pairs perfectly when eaten together. Perfect soft, warm, crunchy, salty, cool, sweet combination when eaten together. Outstanding. Recommend.
Steak Frites served with a braised chard and sauce of your choice that is meant to be eaten WITH (in the same bite as) the sliced steak meat. Eaten together, it is excellent. As separate parts, the parts aren't amazing; but eaten together, the parts complement each other well to make a stand-out dish. Different textures and complimenting unique flavors... very yummy. I recommend the Alaskan chimichurri (tastes of Alaska for sure with spruce tips as the main ingredient) over the whisky-peppercorn sauce (a bit too beef boullion tasting for my liking). Delicious meal. Recommend.
Huntsman Meatloaf. Hearty. You can tell the meat used is good quality. The meatloaf is not greasy. Soft inside, delicious grilled exterior. Sauce served on it. Perfectly cooked skinny greenbeans and delicious mashed potatoes. Yummy, perhaps a bit less moist of a meatloaf than what you might be used to, though excellent in its own right. ...
Read moreMy husband and I went for valentines dinner and were unfortunately pretty disappointed with our whole experience. We had a reservation and when we arrived we were told it would be quite a wait because our table was occupied. I understand that it was Valentine’s Day, they were busy and things happen. Once we were seated we were asked what we would like to order to drink without being offered a drink menu. Once our drinks and appetizer arrived our main meal came shortly after before we had a chance to finish the appetizer. My husband was still chewing his dinner when the waitress asked if he was done so she could clear his plate. We were still eating when she asked for our dessert order and dessert came right away while my husband was still eating his main course and before our dinner plates had been cleared from the table. We felt extremely rushed. Even after waiting 15 mins for our table to be available, we were in and out from our three course dinner in less than an hour. The food was okay, and serving sizes were on the smaller side. For paying $90 per person for our meals, we were very disappointed with the service and quality of food. Even if the food was just okay, it was the service and feeling extremely rushed so they could get us out and the next group in that was disappointing when you are paying $180 for a...
Read moreMade a reservation early afternoon on a Saturday for 5 people. Once we arrived, we were seated approximately 30 minutes after the reservation time (that’s okay, I’ve been a server).
They sat us in a booth that was clearly not meant for 3 individuals to sit on one side. We pulled over a chair to put a person on the end. Our actual table waitress informed us it was a fire hazard to sit on an end and assured us she would be moving us to a bigger table once others departed. She ran to get us drinks.
In the meantime, another waitress/maybe manager came and expressed the need for someone not to sit on an end. She stated and I quote, ‘We are aware you are not taking this seriously but it could shut us down as this is a fire hazard’.
We were very understanding and didn’t complain, but that was a bit rude and assuming. We are locals who were bringing 2 guests from out-of-town to experience the dining. For five individuals spending more than $100 per person, I am of the opinion that the staff should be able to accomodate without those kind...
