Key West Poké House — Restaurant in Key West

While this place, in my experience, has a great reputation, my last time here was the last time I will go.

I walked in when it was very slow, and ordered a bowl for my girlfriend and I. I felt stared at the entire time and felt very rushed while ordering. When I did get my bowl it had only tuna and rice; I did not order that.

Along with the long order, of which I was being cut off and talked over by the cashier like a TSA agent, and the long prep time that ensued, the experience I had here reached its nadir when a man, (who I can only assume held priority to the establishment) walked in, made his order for his children and himself and took complete priority over my order. I did order a good 15 minutes before him.

As I was observing, he was diligently walking the employees through his order. He had rice, grilled chicken, and some vegetables. I watched as an employee put the wrong topping on his Poki bowl, and as he demanded that they take out the ‘wrong’ toppings and put them back. These toppings came across room temperature chicken, they are no good and the entire bowl should be thrown out. They, instead, put these cross-contaminated toppings (and others) back inside their respective containers. When his order was finally finished, I noticed my girlfriend’s and I’s orders were on a counter behind the employees, finished, the entire time. This took around 40 minutes. While I would rather stay quiet and observe, I’m sure my raised eyebrows did enough talking.

My entire order was 60 dollars, and they ran out of forks.

While I genuinely like Poke house and their sister restaurants, there is no way, in good will, I cannot share my experience here. It was terrible. Finally got to try out a much needed addition to the Key West food scene. I have been craving Poké since moving down and just had not yet found anything that scratched that itch…until Key West Poké House came along. Upon entering, you’re greeted by the staff’s friendly smiles and a dining room that is spotless. I had a build your own Poké bowl with tuna, and a number of toppings and add-ons. The tuna was great quality, there was an insane variety of toppings (their soy eggs are AMAZING) AND the sauces were delicious. My girlfriend had the hibachi chicken as her protein which was amazing as well. We treated ourselves to the Cheesesteak Egg rolls as well and let me tell you, please order them if you have the chance. Those egg rolls are one of the best and most memorable menu items I’ve ordered in Key West....

A great place for a healthy and delicious meal! This is definitely one of those places you want to come back to. The buns are fresh, colorful and full of flavor - perfect. The ingredients are clearly of good quality, everything blends perfectly, and the portions are filling.

The service? Smiling and helpful! They are happy to advise you on what to choose, and you can also ask for small changes in the composition without any problem. You can see that they care about customer satisfaction.
