Who doesn't enjoy watching videos of delicious food from other countries? Just a couple of months ago my husband and I were wishing we could enjoy REAL Italian pizza like we had seen in these videos. And then we recently found this amazing authentic Italian restaurant right here in Lafayette! As we entered the doors we were transported to Sicily. The large painted mural of Mount Etna and various familiar Italian depictions, along with the grandparents and the owners and their little daughter, as she sits atop a large bowl of pizza dough, instantly made us think this food will be cooked with love!! We felt like we were at a large family gathering, with lots of laughter and chatter. There were hugs being shared by recognized faces of those being seated and you could feel the love in the room. We all know good food will always bring the love out! The blue and white chairs and fairy light candles reminds us of scenes of the Amalfi coast. The iconic colorfully painted ceramic heads placed along the extended open kitchen shelf, and multi colored large tile boarder running along the top of the surrounding walls, take you even further on your Italian visit. As we sat and watched the many happy people around us eat and compare the food put before them, we looked forward to our own first taste of a real authentic pizza. Our wonderful waiter answered our many questions and shared his favorite dishes for our future visits. We ordered a Margherita pizza and a cheese pizza for their simplicity and to experience the taste of a perfect crust, homemade mozzarella, and an amazing sauce. As we tore off a piece of the outer crust, we ate it bare, no sauce or toppings, to experience the flavor on its own. AMAZING! So crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. We just stared at each other and smiled and enjoyed our first real taste of what a pizza is suppose to taste like, by starting with the best ingredients and preparing it with love. Nothing will ever come close to this crust. We totally enjoyed every bite. On our second visit we shared a pizza and ordered the rigatoni pasta Norma with grilled eggplant. DELICIOUS!! The eggplant was intensely flavored, maybe by removing the moisture content through a salting process that we've seen, and grilled to a perfect texture. No mushyness here!! Our next visit will be for the lasagna!!!! Can't wait!!!! I pray this little family will thrive and be here for years, and be added to our own wonderful family dining memories. Much love to you all. Read moreSo we expected more and we were not impressed. Over priced! Over Priced! Over Priced! Portions were not worth the cost and the flavors/quality of the dishes didn’t make up for it either. We were never offered water despite every table having been given a pitcher and glasses.
My boyfriend described our bar experience as a “hot beer and I had a juice box in a wine glass.”
We ordered the Bruschetta, it was nothing like we expected. It was basically 1.5 slices of bread with light olive oil drizzled on to and cherry tomatoes sliced over it. The cost was $16 and we asked if we could have a little cheese over it and we were told it was an up charge of $3 for some very small chucks of mozzarella. We were shocked when it came out at such an unimpressive serving and that we were not offered appetizer plates. Tomatoes were rolling off everywhere. I had to eat my 1/2 slice of bread over my napkin I unrolled and spear my tomatoes with a fork to eat separate.
Our food took so long, we looked around and everyone in the restaurant was waiting for food many complaining to each other that things were taking too long. We also heard people saying they wouldn’t order another glass of wine for $15 and we felt the same. I would have ordered another glass had it not been so over priced. We heard some customers complaining they were still hungry after eating their portions of lasagna saying it wasn’t worth.
I ordered the lemon chicken over risotto which was basically very tough boiled chicken. The sauce was flavorful but way too salty and the risotto was basically mushy rice. At least the pizza was tasty according to my boyfriend except he said it was definitely not worth what was charged.
We saw photos of their cannolis online and really wanted to try them but after waiting so long for our food and over paying for everything else, we decided it wasn’t worth our time and probably not the price or portion.
The restaurant has potential but the service and quality of food we had was not worth what we paid. It seemed that they were trying to fill the restaurant but the kitchen couldn’t handle the volume which made people upset and disappointed at their tables. When people are disappointed and upset with the service they won’t return. There was no vent near the pizza oven and the restaurant was smoky!
Our bill was $120 when we left and we were still hungry. 2 weeks ago we spent $150 at Cafe Josephine and were very...
Read moreMy parents and I recently dined in at Sarrica’s Little Italy, and it was was the best restaurant experience we’ve had in Lafayette out of all the times of eating out at local restaurants.
The atmosphere was comforting, the service was spot on, and the food was excellent. Santi, the owner of Sarrica’s, and his family have come along way from selling individual pizza pie orders, to running a food truck and now having their own brick and mortar.
I’ve known Santi from the start of his family’s business, and what sets his family and restaurant apart from the rest is how he told me what their mission was. They are not about trying to obtain fame or franchising, they are out to create a movement to share their love and Italian heritage with the beautiful people of Lafayette. They change their menu on a regular basis, so every time you go in you never what food adventure awaits. We tried a couple of their custom pizzas, lasagna, and a couple of the dishes, everything was delicious and didn’t last on the table very long. It’s incredible that all their main ingredients are imported from Italy and they make they make their own cheeses!
The Sarrica’s team goes the extra mile when it comes to cleanliness; cleaning the restaurant at least twice a day after both lunch and dinner shifts. Side note I’ve never seen before restaurant employees take time to deep clean the seats at the tables, extra points for Sarrica’s! Special shoutout to our waitress Kylee, you can tell she has a huge heart for people, such a passion for her job, cares about the success of Sarrica’s and has great respect for Santi and his family. One of Kylee’s highlights was how seriously she took my food allergy; I have a deadly allergy to all nuts. After receiving my allergy information, Kylee went into the kitchen and went over the whole menu with Santi’s team on what was safe for me to eat. She then came back and showed me all the safe options for me to choose from. My parents and I will be requesting her for our future visits. Thank you again Kylee, you’re awesome!
Santi, we are so proud of you and your family of how far y’all have come! Thank you for the love you have for people, and for wanting to share your food and gifts with this community. We pray for nothing but blessings and success for you, your family, your team and Sarrica’s...
