This is a fantastic concept, executed poorly. We went for dinner around 5:30 pm, started with the swine candy which was ok but may have been better warm (we were also asked by our server if tonight's batch of swine candy was spicy because she hadn't had the chance to try it yet) and the tater tots, also pretty good, although the dipping sauce might as well be tomato paste with sugar mixed in. The "flatbed buffet" was superbly medicore, with about ten options, not including a run of the mill salad bar, and mason jars full of poorly pickled vegetables. FYI, pickling isn't simply soaking things in sugary vinager. The chili was made of what tasted like leftover brisket, which is a great idea for a restaurant like this, but it was overly spicy and under seasoned. The cornbread that we where warned was "fresh out of the oven" wasn't hot enough to melt the honey butter it was served with. It was also extremely dry and bland. All four "house made" BBQ sauces where all flat, and uninspired. All of the meats that made it to our table where bland, under seasoned, or over cooked. With the exception of the brisket and the chicken sausage. The brisket was the best thing I ate here, and it was at best OK. The chicken sausage I wouldn't feed to my dogs. For dessert we had the key lime pie and the smores pie. The key lime wasn't bad but tasted like it had been in the cooler a day or two too long. The smores however was so hot it was not edible. Even after the ten minutes it took our server to wrap up our check, it was still to hot to eat. The restaurant needs to learn what salt is, and that there are other seasonings other than cayenne pepper involved in BBQ. The service wasn't great either, the server appeared to only have one table and she couldn't keep up with it. The rotation of the meats seemed to be lacking rythm aswell. We were only able to try 4 of the meats because the others that came out never stopped in our section, there was also one carver who kept stopping on the opposite side of our table to server the meats requiring someone to pass the meats around the table to the party who wanted that cut.If you're thinking about a visit to this place, skip it and go some place else. Great idea for a restaurant, just a really, really...
Read moreTypically like to post reviews on Trip Advisor so the employees mentioned can receive their $5 bonus but decided to come on here as well to hopefully get more positive attention for this fantastic spot with impeccably Kind service. After driving around the hotel area started 10:30 looking for a spot to eat without a 45 min wait (weather poor today around theme parks) came in here. It was now past the breakfast/brunch time 1:00 regular menu not including anything my horribly restricted health diet currently allows. There were 3 folks who were so incredible to me regarding this limitation. First met up with Chad working the bar area and tables nearby, the only spot that was serving at this time. He asked me to give suggestions on what I could eat. He provided a fruit beverage and a fresh piece of fruit to eat and then He and another server named Imane spoke to the kitchen to see what able to provide. Chef Kian made everything and then some. Also came to door to meet me and check on satisfaction. I can not express in enough words how incredibly above and beyond I felt this business went to assist. Also a Floridian and understanding how much our service industry has been hit over the yrs and soooo many improvements needed. If folks could please be cognizant that folks who r working in these establishments are getting up each day and making things happen as best they can and today my exp is proof that there really r folks spreading Kindness around. Truly thank you again...
Read moreOver priced food! I do not recomend any food here. Chips they served while waiting for our main dish to arrice, was stale. The pimento cheese appetizer tasted horrible. It was a few over toasted crackers with a scoop of pimento cheese with jam on it. It was way over priced. One person in our party ordered the salad and paid an extra $8 for 4 pieces of grilled chicken. The salad was small. The size you get as a side salad at other restuarants. The salad ended up costing her over $26 with the added chicken. The pork sandwich was good but Soney's has one that taste better at half the price. The menu was limited eventhough the menu listed on maps has more options. Service was poor. We were constantly having to ask for refills. Two people asked for a carryout box but waiter only brought one box. Then, to top it off they added a mandatory service fee to each ticket (which we were later told was the tip for the waiter) plus it had a place to add an additional gratuity. Two tips for the waiter! My friends and I do not mind paying money for a good meal, but this was not one. The walk in the hotel to the restuarant was pleasant which is the reason for a 3 star rating on atmosphere. People... save your money! This place is...
